Overview:

Marathon Petroleum Company LP is seeking a Supply Chain – Senior Continuous Improvement Specialist/Lead Continuous Improvement Specialist. This role is pivotal in analyzing business processes, conducting financial analysis, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements, and implementing strategies to enhance productivity and cost-effectiveness. The position also focuses on developing dashboards, reports, exploring ways to enrich our data with both internal and external data points, and generating actionable insights to support effective decision-making.

As a key player in the team, you will bring economic and statistical models to bear, leveraging these tools to enhance data interpretation and uncover new opportunities. You will collaborate across departments, working with process models to optimize systems and develop capabilities to understand how processes and systems can generate missing or underutilized data signals, ensuring our systems and process landscape is continually improving.


Key Responsibilities:

Analyze current business processes and workflows to identify areas for improvement.
Utilize data analytics and performance metrics to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process changes and ensure sustainability.
Develop and maintain performance dashboards and reports, using data to facilitate more effective decision-making.
Explore ways to enrich our data with internal and external data sources to improve insight and opportunities.
Bring economic and statistical models and tools to enhance the use of data and inform business decisions.
Facilitate root cause analysis to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
Ability to understand, cleanse, and aggregate data from multiple sources.
Provide training and guidance to teams on best practices for continuous improvement.
Support project management efforts related to process enhancements and operational changes.
Communicate findings and recommendations to leadership through reports and presentations.
Support the Category Managers in analyzing and interpreting data for use in decision-making.
Utilize total cost of ownership and should-cost/forecasting modeling to identify and deliver value to meet the business’s needs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree Required. Supply Chain Management, Computer Science or a similar discipline is preferred.
6 or more years of experience in process improvement, operations analysis, or a related role; including three (3) years of relevant experience in project management and continuous improvement initiatives required.
Certification in Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt or higher preferred).
Proficient in data visualization and process mapping tools (e.g., Power BI, Visio, Signavio, Microsoft Power Tools).
Experienced in project and change management, AI, generative AI, machine learning, automation, business intelligence, and data visualization.
Energy industry experience in refining, midstream, and logistics.
Preferred background in economics, economic modelling, statistical and regression analysis.
Travel requirements: 25% or less.
