Job Description
The Superintendent, Permitting & Closure will initially lead the overall permitting and closure planning for SSR Mining’s CC&V Mine.
The candidate will have extensive experience with Colorado Mine Permitting and the Colorado Regulatory framework and / or Nevada experience, general mine permitting, mine closure planning, stakeholder engagement, government relations, and project management skills.
The role may also provide support to the EHSS Portfolio of Projects, and the EHSS team in Denver.
The Day To Day
•Strategic growth and operational permitting for the CC&V mine.
•Strategic closure planning for the CC&V mine that will result in successful closure of the mine but also enable the mine to grow and expand.
•Working with the SSR EHSS site teams, prepare and submit permit applications.
•Coordinate with regulatory agencies.
•Collaborate with internal teams.
•Communication with municipalities, NGOs, and other key stakeholders.
•Remain updated on regulations regarding mine operations in Colorado and other North American jurisdictions.
•Develop and review closure plans and methodology.
•Manage multiple consultants and budgets effectively.
•Manage multiple stakeholders effectively.
• Develop overall business strategy and framework to manage permitting/closure across multiple jurisdictions in North America, as needed.
•Review, define, design, and implement tools/guidance to assist permitting/closure leads in each business unit.
•Develop and implement communication strategy regarding permitting/closure progress, risks, and opportunities across all North American business units.
•Support permitting/closure leads in each business unit.
•Support permitting/closure activities across other SSR North American jurisdictions, as needed.
Is This You?
•Bachelors or Masters (preferred) University degree in an Environmental related field.
•8+ years related work experience, preferably in an international mining company/consultancy.
•Experience in Colorado permitting/regulatory engagement is crucial.
•General experience in precious metals mining.
•Experience in environmental management, including mine closure, permitting, water management and management systems.
•Practical experience at a mining company, in operations, is highly desirable.
For applicants residing in CO, the salary range for this role is from $120,000-$140,000. Benefits: 401(k); medical/dental/vision insurance; employee share purchase plan, PTO, and STI.
