Job Summary:
The Superintendent is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of craft employees on construction projects. This includes planning, supervising, and scheduling the work of multiple trade groups.
Duties and Responsibilities:
•Establish and maintain high safety and quality standards in accordance to company and industry standards.
•Inspects work in progress to ensure that workmanship conforms to specifications, safety measurements and the adherence to construction schedules.
•Prepares or reviews reports on progress, materials used and costs, and adjusts work schedules as indicated by reports.
•Ensure that appropriate documentation and cost associate documents are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
•Ensure that purchase orders, receiving reports, and timesheets are correctly coded.
•Provide updates and feedback to assist in the resolution of construction issues, including productivity concerns or work interface challenges.
•Coordinate work across different crafts, departments, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution and avoid conflicts or delays.
•Maintain strong communication with the Project Manager, Contracts Manager, and other key project stakeholders.
•Determine the method of construction, appropriate manpower levels, material quantities, equipment needs, and temporary power sources.
Required Skills and Abilities:
•Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
•Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
•Proven experience in project scheduling and resource management.
•Knowledge of construction safety protocols and regulations
•Ability to resolve disputes and solve construction-related issues.
•Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
•Experience with Procore, Project Schedule, etc.
Proficient in MS Office applications.
Essential Core Competencies:
•Safety Awareness: Knowledge and enforcement of site-specific safety procedures and industry regulations.
External Relations: Working with unions (if applicable to location),* customers, and industry associations to maintain positive relationships and resolve disputes when needed.
•Safety Compliance: Knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices, with a focus on ensuring the health and safety of all team members.
•Clear Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with supervisors, team members, customers, and external stakeholders.
•Team Management: Ability to lead and supervise diverse craft teams effectively, ensuring high productivity and compliance with project requirements.
Education and Experience:
•High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 5 years in a construction supervisory role, with experience managing craft personnel across multiple trades.
Physical Requirements:
•Ability to work on construction sites, often in challenging weather conditions.
•Ability to walk, stand, or sit for extended periods.
•Ability to lift and move materials and equipment, as required by the role.
•May be required to work extended hours or weekends to meet project deadlines.
•This position may require travel to various project sites.
