(Summer Student) Metal Saw and Shear Worker/ Order Processing

About This Job

Primary Functions

The main objective of this position is to fulfill customer orders by cutting or shearing material to size, complete receiving and shipping paperwork, load and unload incoming/outgoing trucks, conduct regular inventory counts, maintain a clean safe organized work environment.

This individual is also expected to be aware of and support all goals relating to sales plans and costs and to conduct him/herself in a professional manner conducive to generating a team attitude toward maintaining effective customer relationships.

Responsibilities

•

Some experience with machines such as a table saw, band saw, or shear is preferred.

•

Experience in a machine shop or fabrication shop is a bonus.

•

Must be eligible for employment in Canada.

•

Handle material such as metal bars and sheet metal.

Requires lifting and or utilizing a lift truck to safely lift and manage material Prepare customer orders based on material and size. Must be able to do math and utilize measuring tools such as a tape measure, caliper, and micrometer. Must be able to operate or be trainable on a metal band saw and metal shear.

Must be able to operate or be trainable on a forklift.

•

Prepare material for shipment by truck, courier or customer pickup.

•

Provide proper basic maintenance of equipment and keep work area clean and safe for customers and other employees.

•

Provide consistent, superior service by ensuring that all customer needs are recognized and serviced, and satisfaction is highly maintained at all times.

•

Prepare customer orders based on material and size specifications.

Requirements

•

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

•

Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

•

Past experience with building materials is an asset.

•

Ability to multitask and keep track of customer orders.

•

Forklift certification is preferred but not required.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 42.5 – 50 per week
