We’re looking for Substation Technicians who are ready to build their careers supporting complex power systems across the U.S. This hands-on field role involves working on substation projects and related high-voltage infrastructure in power plants, industrial facilities, and renewable energy sites. You’ll perform critical installations, inspections, and troubleshooting alongside experienced professionals who value safety, quality, and performance.
- Complete tasks with attention to detail, consistently delivering high-quality work that meets or exceeds industry standards
- Use basic tools such as hypresses and hydraulic pipe benders under supervision
- Assist with fabrication by learning to operate magnetic drills and hydraulic bus punches
- Adhere to all safety procedures and promptly report any unsafe conditions or hazards
- Support daily operations through general labor duties and other responsibilities assigned by supervisors
- Engage in hands-on training and development through classes, homework, and mentorship opportunities
- Contribute to team problem-solving, decision-making, and goal achievement
- Collaborate with team members to drive results and maintain a positive, productive work environment
- Follow PPE protocols and safety procedures while working around high-voltage equipment, at heights, or in confined spaces
- Prior experience working within substation and power plant/manufacturing environments
- Working knowledge of electrical systems, circuitry, and safety protocols, ensuring adherence to industry standards.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and blueprints
- Proficient in the use of hand and power tools, lifting equipment, and safety gear
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving history
- Willingness to travel up to 90% based on project needs
- Must pass a background check and drug/alcohol screening
- Physically capable of lifting 50+ lbs. and performing physically demanding work for extended periods- Able to work outdoors in varying conditions and environments
- Proficiency in English (speaking, reading, writing) for safety and documentation
- An associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Power Systems, or Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience with utility companies or substation contractors
- Familiarity with isolated phase bus systems, grounding systems, and relay protection schemes
- Completion of trade school, technical college, or skilled trade certifications
