Structural Steel Shop Position

About Us:

We are a small, locally owned steel fabrication company specializing in structural and miscellaneous steel. We value precision, efficiency, and a strong team environment. We’re looking for an experienced Machine Operator to run key fabrication machinery and support production in our Glendale shop.

Position Summary:

The Machine Operator is responsible for safely and accurately operating several core pieces of fabrication equipment, including the Hydmech M20A structural bandsaw, Bend-Tech A400 Dragon, Spirit II CNC plasma table, and Chicago Dreis & Krump 810-C press brake. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with similar machinery, strong attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret shop drawings.

Key Responsibilities:

- Operate the following shop equipment with accuracy and attention to quality:

- Hydmech M20A structural bandsaw

- Bend-Tech A400 Dragon tube & profile processing machine

- Spirit II CNC plasma cutting table

- Chicago Dreis & Krump 810-C press brake

- Perform machine setup, adjustments, and routine maintenance checks.

- Load materials, verify measurements, and ensure parts are produced to specification.

- Read and interpret shop drawings, cut lists, and fabrication details.

- Utilize computer-based machine software; experience with ProNest (or similar nesting/CNC software) preferred.

- Maintain accurate documentation for completed work and material usage.

- Operate forklifts to move and stage materials (certification preferred).

- Work closely with the shop foreman and fabrication team to meet project deadlines.

- Adhere to all shop safety procedures and maintain a clean work area.

Qualifications:

- Minimum 2 years of experience operating fabrication machinery in a steel shop or similar environment.

- Experience with structural saws, CNC plasma tables, press brakes, or automated tube processing equipment.

- Ability to read and comprehend fabrication drawings and shop documentation.

- Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of fabrication processes.

- Forklift certification and experience preferred.

- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a fabrication shop environment.

Preferred Skills:

- Experience with ProNest, Bend-Tech software, or other CNC programming/nesting programs.

- Familiarity with structural and miscellaneous steel materials.

- Basic troubleshooting and mechanical repair ability.

Pay: $22.00 - $30.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
