Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions of all kinds of structural, plate and mechanical materials into all types of assemblies.
- Metal fabrication basic knowledge required.
- Solid background working with steel. (Carbon steel, aluminum, stainless steel)
- Read and ability to do layout according to blueprint.
- Verifies conformance of work piece to specs using square, caliper, and measuring tape.
- Ability to use welding torch and hand tools.
- Fabricate, assemble, and install structural steel products such as beams, braces, pipes, and plates for jackets and decks
- Ability to construct templates and fixtures using hand tools.
- Proven measurement and mathematical fraction/decimal conversion skills.
- Ability to distinguish material types including Aluminum, Steel and Stainless Steel.
- Perform measurement verification welds as required.
- Tack your own fits.
- Measure and mark pipes for cutting and threading
- Perform quality work with limited oversight and/or instructions.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Perform other duties as required that support shop projects.
- Structural Fitter: 2 - 4 years (Required)
- Constantly perform repeating motions that may include feet, leg, wrists, hands and/or fingers
- Work that includes moving and/or lifting objects up to 50 pounds, carry at least 30 pounds and up to 150 pounds with help
- Frequent movement to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Ability to operate job related tools
- Significant and sustained periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting and lifting.
- Will use vision abilities to focus, see short and long distances, colors, depth perception and peripheral vision.
- Ability to work in hot/cold environments
