Qualus LLC is presently seeking Storm Damage Assessors in Ohio and the Northeast, United States.
This is a On-Call Seasonal position, employee will only work on an as needed basis during storm events.
The Storm Damage Assessor must be a person with a minimum of 10 years' experience in the Electric utility distribution or transmission systems (engineering, Journeyman Lineman). The incumbent must also be physically capable of walking out power line right of ways under various weather and terrain conditions. Weather conditions may include snow, ice, rain or high heat/humidity. The terrain conditions may include, but are not limited to, off road rural areas in swampy or overgrown right of ways, mountainous terrain. Incumbent must somewhat be computer savvy as most Utility clients have their own Assessment App that must be used to collect the data needed for restoration. Incumbent must possess valid driver's license.
- Must be able to identify primary and secondary electrical facilities including poles, primary wires, secondary wires, services, primary insulators, transformers, fuses, reclosers, regulators, OCBs, substations, etc.
- Must know appropriate electrical distribution safety rules.
- Must be able to identify the difference between electrical, cablevision and telephone lines.
- Be the lead person on a two-man team assigned to patrol distribution lines damaged by hurricane, ice, wind or other causes.
- Identify all necessary repairs required for restoration.
- Have ability to read and follow distribution circuit maps noting facilities needing repair.
- Have the ability with on-site training to use the Utilities Assessment Application to collect the technical data required for restoration assistance.
- Complete client specified damage reports in detail.
- Use binoculars, cell phones and client radios as needed.
- Determine distribution crew type(s) needed for restoration of facilities, as well as assign and schedule their work.
- Ensure crews have proper materials for restoration work
- Be available for work the daily hours as required by utility's work schedule and until completion of the restoration work and released by the utility.
- Complete any follow-up work required by utility.
- Expect to work up to 16-hour days, 7 days a week until customers are restored with electricity.
- Minimum of 10 years' experience in utility distribution or transmission systems (Journeyman Linemen, Engineers or operations)
- Must possess a valid driver's license
- Must be physically capable of walking out power line right of ways under various weather and terrain conditions as described in the above position description.
- This is a perfect position for a retiree who only wants to work occasionally.
