Under general supervision, this is responsible work in the operation of the warehouse and related compound.
Accounts for the proper and efficient operation of the warehouse and compound and for the receiving, storing, issuing, and salvaging of parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and tools in an orderly fashion. Receives, stores, issues and records parts, supplies, materials, and tools according to material list and participates in physical inventory. Maintains stock records, which may include receiving reports, warehouse requisitions, purchase requisitions, and perpetual inventory records. Inspects goods received as to quality and quantity in compliance with established standards. Operates equipment such as, forklifts, pallet jacks, order selector, etc. necessary to handling and storing materials.
Senior Storekeeper (in addition to duties listed above)
May provide guidance, training, and direction to entry level staff and may assist with the evaluation process of less experienced staff. Prepares periodic and special reports on the operation of the stock room and inventory levels. Prepares domestic and international shipping labels, including scheduling, for outbound and inbound shipping with various carriers.
Lead Storekeeper (in addition to all duties listed above)
Provides leadership and supervision to less experienced staff. May assume the duties of the supervisor in their absence. Assists the supervisor/manager in preparing reports for internal and external auditors concerning the annual warehouse inventory. Coordinates with the Purchasing department to schedule the sale of scrap metal on a quarterly basis or as needed and oversees the preparation of surplus materials for yearly auction. Investigates inventory errors by analyzing data and running reports to provide results to the supervisor/manager.
Knowledge of modern storeroom and inventory methods and practices. Knowledge of basic stock inventory procedures (i.e., requisitions, purchase orders, invoices, packing slips, bill of lading, etc.) Knowledge of basic computer use. Skill to operate forklift effectively and efficiently with a variety of sizes, shapes, weights, etc., of materials delivered. Skill to operate different types of pallet jacks (electric and manual). Skill to operate and electric order selector and/or electric reach truck. Effective oral and written communication skills in English. Ability to receive, issue, store and inventory parts, supplies, materials, equipment, and tools in an orderly fashion. Ability to perform various arithmetical computations quickly and accurately. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to prepare reports and maintain records.
High school diploma or GED and one (1) year of experience in stock work or a related area.
Two (2) additional years of experience are required.
Four (4) additional years of experience are required.
Requires a valid Texas Driver License or receipt of a valid Texas Driver’s License within 90 days of relocation to Texas and a safe driving record, as measured by company policy. Must obtain a forklift certification within six (6) months of appointment in order to remain in the position.
