Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will work closely with the accounting team in preparing and reporting daily and monthly activities. This role will also include assisting the controller in keeping financial compliance records to track the organization’s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial matters.
Bachelor’s degree in “Accounting” is a must for consideration.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Overseeing and handling the creation and approval of all project-related billings to subsidiary companies
•Working with construction/project management teams to obtain daily reports for billing purposes
•Setting up accurate overhead allocations and appropriately billing to projects
•Ability to communicate with and manage subcontractors to obtain and process bills in a timely manner
•Running monthly accounting meetings with the construction/project management team to review current and upcoming projects and billings
•Investigating project variances to budget and submitting these variance reports to the management
•Ensuring accurate recordkeeping by auditing and generating invoices promptly.
•Reviewing project budgets, including fee structures, staffing, and work plans
•Assist in preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
•Maintains the general ledger.
•Codes bills, reconciles accounts, and oversees monthly close of AP.
•Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
•Reconciles payroll, vendors, and other financial accounts; manages accounts payables.
•Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
•Coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software.
•Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
•Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
•Desire to learn and grow accounting skills and take on additional work as needed.
•Basic to Intermediate foundation of Excel skills.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
•Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
•Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
•Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and NetSuite software.
Education and Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in “Accounting” is a must.
•At least (2) two – (3) three years of related experience required.
Physical Requirements:
•Must be able to communicate with others to exchange information
•Remains in a sedentary position for long periods working on a computer
•Work in an Office environment
•Must be able to lift to 20 pounds occasionally
•Use repeating motions that may include the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
NOTE: This is not a remote position; role must be performed in Reno office
