Position Overview
As a Stamping Process Engineer, you will report to the Engineering Manager and Process Engineering Team Lead. This role requires coordination across multiple disciplines (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation/controls, civil/structural), as well as procurement, project controls, and project management. You will support design execution and resolve technical challenges throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
•Size and specify process equipment
•Prepare design calculations and briefs
•Perform hydraulic calculations and heat/material balances
•Prepare equipment and instrumentation datasheets and specifications
•Review vendor documentation and conduct technical evaluations
•Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
•Participate in process safety activities, including relief system design and relief valve sizing
•Attend HAZOPs and address resulting action items
•Write technical reports and engineering studies
•Conduct field engineering assignments
•Coordinate across disciplines to ensure project accuracy and efficiency
•Review and stamp P&IDs, plot plans, and mechanical drawings
•Stamp process calculations and ensure compliance with applicable standards
Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering
•Minimum 6 years of process engineering experience
•Registered as a P.Eng. with APEGA in Alberta
•Experience with oil and gas systems and mechanical equipment (e.g., pumps, compressors)
Preferred Skills & Experience
•Experience in O&G, chemical, or petrochemical industries
•Proficient with process software (e.g., HYSYS, VMG, ASPEN, METSIM)
•Knowledge of process safety methodologies (HAZOP, SIL, LOPA)
•Familiarity with SmartPlant, AutoCAD, or similar tools
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
•Experience working on interdisciplinary, project-based teams
•Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines
•Self-starter with strong time management and organizational skills
•Willingness to travel to vendor and construction sites as needed
