The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and passionate about ensuring safety and operational excellence in the oil, gas, petrochemical, and specialty chemicals industries.

Key Responsibilities:

Scribe Duties: Document discussions, findings, and recommendations during Process Hazard Analyses (HAZOP, LOPA, What-if, FMEA, HAZID), alarm rationalization meetings, and PSM program development sessions. Ensure accurate and thorough documentation using MS Office and PHA software.
Safe Operating Limit (SOL) Calculations: Support the calculation and validation of safe operating limits to ensure processes operate within safe boundaries.
Alarm Rationalization: Assist in facilitating alarm rationalization meetings, collaborating with operations and engineering teams to optimize alarm systems for safety and efficiency.
Process Safety Management (PSM): Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of PSM programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and other relevant regulations.
Technical Documentation: Read and interpret Process and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment datasheets, Cause and Effect charts, and other technical drawings. Prepare and update process safety information (PSI) and other critical documentation.
Safety Compliance: Adhere to Cognascents’ and client safety procedures, maintaining a strong commitment to safety in all activities.
Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and client stakeholders to deliver high-quality, client-focused solutions.

Qualifications:

Familiarity with process simulation tools (e.g., Aspen Plus®, HYSYS, Symmetry, Pro/II) and relief system design is preferred but not required.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, such as P&IDs and Cause and Effect charts.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with team members and clients.
Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time, as project needs require.

Benefits and Perks:

Competitive Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental insurance, retirement savings plan with company match, short- and long-term disability, and basic life insurance.
9-80 Work Schedule: Enjoy a flexible schedule with every other Friday off, promoting work-life balance.
Paid Time Off (PTO): 27 hours of PTO dedicated to volunteer activities, encouraging community engagement, in addition to standard vacation and sick leave.
