Southwestern Power Administration, an agency within the Department of Energy, contracts Wyandotte Nation’s Wyandotte Technologies for service support. Wyandotte Technologies has a long-term opportunity to provide a Sr. level Network Engineer for support in Springfield of business and technology infrastructure operations.
Position Summary
The Sr. Network Engineer III role will be responsible for IT network infrastructure management, upkeep, client ticketing resolution, technology project planning and implementation. This role requires strong organizational skills, time management, interpersonal skills, attention to detail, teamwork, communication and follow through, in addition to technical and business acumen.
Key Responsibilities
•Operate and maintain local area networks (LAN) and assist as needed with wide area networking (WAN) systems at all operating locations and facilities and provide service continuity and disaster recovery
•Implement all networking security standards to the networking equipment that resides on the network in accordance with FISMA, NERC CIP, and DOE and local security policies
•Provide network administration and configuration management, to include software/firmware maintenance and revision-level control for all remote access devices, data communications/transmission equipment, and network routing and switching equipment
•Provide all necessary engineering and operations support, to include IP network engineering, firewall engineering, cloud system integrations, and network management.
•Provide monthly network bandwidth monitoring and utilization reports to the Project Manager.
•Ensure implementation and configuration of Southwestern network assets to conform with the configuration needs to meet Southwestern’s IPv6 implementation plan
•Assist in procurement activities of all hardware, software, and services necessary for the proper operation of Southwestern’s various network segments at all facilities.
•Assist in technical review of market research of network asset purchases.
•Update applicable application documentation and scoped work SOP
•Submit a change management request for approval when scheduling changes to systems that may impact the approved baseline, such as system maintenance, upgrades, or patches.
•Provide notification to users regarding system outages; these notifications should identify which system, downtime amount, and the impact to users; notification is required regardless of if the outage is planned or not.
•Provide implementation support to upgrade identified networks to the IPv6 internet standard in accordance with OMB direction and provide updates to the IPv6 Transition Plan that outlines Southwestern’s IPv6 compliance strategy and implementation plan
•SME (subject matter expert) regarding LAN and WAN systems
•Ability to research and implement both future technology and strategy creating and delivering business efficiency and security.
•Prior CISCO and PALO ALTO network security protocol experience required
Education & Experience Requirements
•A bachelor’s degree is required in cyber security or network administration with a minimum of five years’ experience in network support.
•Microsoft Word and Excel expertise
•Strong analytical and time management skills
•Communication and prior project management experience

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $95,000.00 - $102,000.00 per year
