Overview
The Sr Manager of Engineering will oversee and integrate the activities of three critical groups within Rhode Island Energy: Electric Distribution Design, Distribution Right of Way (ROW), Customer Energy Integration (CEI). This role is pivotal in ensuring the seamless coordination, strategic planning, and operational excellence across these departments to enhance efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction. #RIE #INDRIE
Responsibilities•Provide leadership and strategic direction to all three groups, the Design, ROW and CEI teams; the Distribution Design group is responsible for all of the electrical designs for our distribution line and sub transmission line system, the Distribution ROW group is responsible for the acquisition of ROW, land acquisition, substation sites, and managing fee owned encroachments, violations, and mitigations programs for both Electric & Gas Commodities, and the CEI group is responsible for the daily management of the distribution interconnection and regulatory processes to support the execution of customer requests to interconnect with PPL’s distribution system.
•Supervise and mentor this diverse team of supervisors & managers, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
•Ensure these three groups, or this one team, is in compliance with all internal and external requirements, including regulatory standards and company policies
•Develop and implement innovative business solutions to increase efficiency and productivity across all three groups while striving to have them all think and operate as one team immediately understanding the needs of each other
•Build & maintain constructive working relationships with internal & external stakeholders, including governmental officials, key community leaders, and regulatory bodies
•Act as the primary interface between the Office of General Counsel, Engineering, Community Relations, and other business units to translate requirements and business objectives into well-defined work plans
•Represent the organization at various planning, scheduling, and regulatory meetings, providing technical support and ensuring alignment with strategic goals
•Elevate and reinforce a strong safety culture within the work groups, ensuring adherence to safety guidelines and promoting safe team working practices
•Ensure thorough support and timely submission of all regulatory and compliance reporting requirements
•Manage regional budgets for internal resources and external vendors, ensuring efficient allocation and utilization of resources
•Develop and administer project scopes and contracts, maintaining relationships with external design firms and vendors
Qualifications
•ABET accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology
•12 years of experience in engineering
•Strong knowledge of utility policies, regulatory issues, and compliance requirements
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across all levels of the organization. Solid organizational, communication and people skills
•Knowledge of project management software and tools and utility Work Management Systems
•Ability to travel as required to various locations throughout Rhode Island, with a valid driver’s license
