Key Business Objectives:
The Sr. Manager - Engineering is responsible for managing the Project and Applications Engineering teams. He/she demonstrates proficiency in engineering analysis and problem-solving to assist in the development of product proposals and make ready estimates. This position assists Fleet, Field, and Sales Operations teams to provide engineering assistance, equipment reliability and project management support for USAC’s suite of assets ranging from Stations, Treating, and Compression equipment. This individual is a committed collaborator who is detail-oriented and efficient, innovative, professional, and personable. The position requires the ability and desire to fully utilize the technological resources provided to perform all tasks effectively. With minimal supervision, this position will maintain customer relationships both internally and externally. All USAC employees are responsible for maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities:•Possesses thorough knowledge of upstream and midstream production equipment and services specifically supporting compression applications.
•Has a competent understanding of the design and selection methods as well as the complex calculations necessary to select the appropriate equipment to meet the customer’s system and production requirements.
•Performs and mentors others to use the most complex analyses to size and select gas compression and ancillary midstream facility equipment using OEM performance software and other industry accepted methodologies.
•Validate sizing of gas compression equipment efficiently utilizing OEM performance software, specifically Ariel, Caterpillar, Waukesha, and Cummins product lines.
•Assist in the preparation of quotes for Sales and/or Operations to present to customers and participates in key business development functions such as meeting for key projects such as station service opportunities and complex compression and/or treating applications.
•Provides expertise to support all engineering & design functions for station services.
•Works with operations and conducts field visits to support installation, construction, and start-up and collect feedback to improve product quality and reliability.
•Possesses the skills required to perform all position functions, and the overall creativity needed in the position.
•Supervise and develop Project and Applications Engineers.
•Provide engineering support for make ready shops, Field Operations, Construction, Sales, Supply Chain and Customers as required.
•Provide engineering support for upgrades and modifications for instrumentation and control systems for Fleet equipment including control systems.
•Works closely with Engineering Development teams to support Fleet modernization and development initiatives.
•Provide engineering support and project management for assigned equipment reliability initiatives to reduce Total Cost of Ownership.
•Develop and maintain engineering standards and unit design specifications.
•Preparation of project cost estimates.
•Provide expertise and assistance to ASMs / FSTs in operation of compression equipment.
•Coordinate with both internal resources (account managers, environmental teams, make ready teams), as well as external resources (customers, vendors, etc.) to encourage a collaborative team culture.
•Execute Management of Change documentation (MOC’s) for proposed changes to compression, treating and stations.
•Assist in maintaining compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM).
•Provide markups and verifications of equipment drawings.
•Develop specifications for materials and components required for Fleet equipment. Assists Supply Chain teams with vendor sourcing and selection.
•Prepare documentation required for 3rd party pulsation and torsional analysis studies.
•All other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills/Capabilities and Education:
•Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited university preferred.
•Minimum 10 years of work experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably direct experience in gas compression.
•Understand industry codes and standards (ASME, API, ISO, EPA, etc.)
•Knowledge and understanding of equipment and facility drawings to include P&ID’s and GA’s.
•Experience with CAD software.
•Strong computer skills in using the Microsoft Office Suite in addition to OEM sizing programs.
•Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Customer service oriented.
•Strong relationship builder with internal and external customers and vendors.
•Ability to understand written and verbal communication from the company and supervisor including training, procedures, instructions, etc.
•Full time Exempt position.
Working Conditions
•Ability to perform in a high stress environment.
•The employee spends most of the time sitting or standing in a comfortable position with ample opportunity to move about.
•The employee must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
•Ability to read and interpret data as well as having the capacity to professionally and effectively communicate (verbally and written) with both company and outside personnel.
•Exposure to noise levels more than 85dBA, potentially hazardous chemicals and materials, and extreme weather conditions.
•Travel is required and is expected to be approximately 25% of the time worked.
•Working conditions in natural gas compression vary from one job site to another. Some job sites are indoors in compressor stations while other sites are outside, exposed to a variety of weather conditions. The work environment may be in hazardous locations.
