The Energy Storage Solutions Engineering Manager supports the establishment of the “engineering standard” here at Peregrine Energy, supporting key activities around early-stage project design, customer engagement, and standards/architecture development. The successful candidate will be an individual contributor with energy storage expertise and a passion for de-carbonization. The individual will need to navigate the transition from a startup company to a larger organization, while working with internal and external stakeholders. With success, this candidate will be expected to build a strong engineering team to enable an ever-growing portfolio and continued success in contracting projects.
This is a full-time remote position with a preference for the team member to be located in the Boulder, CO or surrounding area.
- Supporting engineering due diligence for greenfield development, as well as M&A evaluations for late-stage and operating energy storage projects.
- Development and management of tools and systems for energy storage system design and configuration, including cost estimating and product evaluations to support customer RFP and bilateral opportunities.
- Evaluate and continuously improve the energy storage design standards for the company.
The position will be responsible for the following items, as it relates to energy storage systems and their components. Responsibilities may arise beyond this, as necessary for a growing company.
- Evaluate and enforce project compliance toward all engineering and safety standards (UL, NFPA, IEEE, etc.)
- Engineering support for development, execution, origination, and operations functions
- Engineering specifications and standards management
- Engineering tools development and management
- Technology road mapping and deployment strategy
- Support engineering deliverables for all customer RFPs and bilateral opportunities
- Prepare and deliver technical presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Serve as a technical expert and point of contact for customer inquiries and support requests
- Support procurement strategy
- Major equipment supplier contract execution and management
- Support major equipment supplier relations, including external engineering teams, OEMs, integrators, etc.
- Develop and maintain the energy storage sizing and pricing tool
- Assist with EPC pricing tool development
- Development of technical specifications and performance requirements
Desired candidate will have the following skills or experience:
- Bachelor of Science in related field - engineering, mathematics, physics, IT, computer science of related field
- 5+ years’ experience working on energy storage system technologies, in a project ownership role.- Strong familiarity with battery systems, power conversion systems, and SCADA/EMS systems.
- Development, engineering, procurement, construction, and operation of energy storage systems.
- Study, sizing and data analysis of complete energy storage systems via homegrown or industry accepted program
- Assisting in the modeling of energy storage economics for utility scale projects
- Operations experience of energy storage assets
- Experience supporting contract negotiation for equipment supply, service, and EPC agreements
- Excellent communication and analytical skills with a collaborative mindset.
Up to 25%
Salary Range is $135,000 to $165,000

This position may be eligible to receive an annual cash incentive bonus capped at a % of your base salary and on your performance review.
