Responsible for safe/proper/efficient testing, maintenance and repair of all mechanical equipment, piping, tanks and structures in the operating facilities. Overtime and shift work may be required. Work performed with supervision and direction from the maintenance and support supervisor.
•Install, repair and maintain rotating equipment such as pumps, gear-boxes, motors and mechanical equipment. Perform coupling alignments and seal replacement. Generate written maintenance and preventative maintenance procedures for major overhauls of gas and steam turbines, centrifugal pumps or other large plant mechanical equipment through the use of maintenance management software. Overhaul components such as control valves and check valves and by disassembling, repairing and replacing parts and adjusting for proper operation.
•Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks.
•Perform Instrument/Electrical tasks where supervisor and craft can direct and train as needed to assist in safely performing the tasks. Equipment and systems covered under these tasks will include, but are not limited to, medium and high voltage switchgear, computer control systems and related instrumentation, relay protection systems, process instrument testing and calibration.
•Performs gas leak surveys on gas transmission line using flame ionization equipment to find the general location of a leak. Identifies and marks location of underground facilities for outside agencies, identifies potentially dangerous conditions. Refers to maps, construction drawings, records and uses a variety of equipment such as pipe/cable locator, metal detector, computer and associated software. Assist with keeping maps and records up-to-date.
•Operates various types of equipment including; all terrain forklifts and utility vehicles, mowing equipment, plant forklift.
•Expected to be available as assigned for weekend and/or emergency callouts and to respond and work overtime when needed. (5%) Assist in the administration of skills development training programs and provide training as appropriate.
•Participates in plant safety processes, adheres to plant safety rules and established guidelines, complies with all company policies and procedures. Develop in-depth knowledge of mechanics and mechanical principles, techniques, machine design, job layout and precision measuring and aligning procedures.
•Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned.
•High school diploma or general education degree and five years related maintenance experience.
•Certification program or equivalent education and experience.
•Ability to read procedures, regulations and process/instrument diagrams.
•Ability to write routine reports and update work orders with completion data.
•Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
•Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
•Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
•Able to conceptualize and develop creative alternatives to problem resolutions.
•Interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract and concrete concepts.
•A valid California State license is required.
•Effective oral and written communication skills. Effective analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
