Sr Finance & Planning Advisor

Suncor Base Plant Finance team is seeking a new team member who can translate complex information into validated insights and solutions to support its Upgrading Operations & Maintenance teams. You'll have the opportunity to influence change while providing performance analysis, stewardship, and business planning to help drive cost and finance process improvement.

This role will join the team in Calgary, Alberta. This is a business facing finance role, working alongside Business Leaders and wider stakeholders.

- Minimum of 10 years of relevant financial & analytical experience

- A bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, economics, or other relevant education

- A recognized accounting designation (CA, CPA, CMA, CGA) with a solid understanding of financial and accounting principles

- Strong computer skills, including advanced proficiency with SAP and Microsoft tools including Power BI

- Strong interpersonal & influencing skills with proven success in business partnering outside of finance

- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail

- Experience of Solomon Benchmarking is an asset.

Responsibilities:

- Build monthly performance analysis, stewardship reporting, and support for key financial processes

- Support business leaders through month-end results, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning

- Help budget owners in driving financial discipline, setting performance metrics & enable decision making.

- Develop an understanding of overall financial picture, key business drivers and business challenges.

- Steward financial progress on discrete programs and initiatives.

- Identify and participate in broader performance improvement projects

- Maintain & drive improvements in Power BI reporting

Location and other Key Details:

- This is an office-based role. You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 –6th Ave S.W.

- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday

- Our business professional roles follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work
