Sr. Financial Analyst

Position Description

- The objective of this role is to lead the full lifecycle management of long-term contracts for renewable energy and energy storage resources—including solar, battery, biomass, and hydro power-in alignment with Santee Cooper’s strategic resource planning and regulatory obligations.

- This position ensures that all solicitation, negotiation, contracting, and administration activities are conducted in accordance with Public Service Commission (PSC) guidelines, internal policies, and best practices.

- The incumbent will safeguard Santee Cooper’s financial and operational interests through sound contract development, compliance oversight, and cross-functional collaboration, while maintaining effective relationships with external developers, consultants, and internal stakeholders.

- Through independent judgment and subject matter expertise, this role plays a critical part in advancing the organization’s clean energy objectives.

Essential Job Tasks:

- Lead solicitations (RFPs) for new long-term renewable and battery storage contracts. Renewable solicitations comply with the Competitive Procurement of Renewable Energy process as approved by the Public Service Commission. Evaluate proposals as needed to provide accurate and complete recommendations to support Santee Cooper's interests. Leads and/or assists with contract negotiations and actively participates in the drafting of contracts. This employee develops and presents recommendations for contracting with developers that achieve corporate objectives and adequately recover costs to Santee Cooper's system.

- Ensure all long-term renewable resource and storage contracts are appropriately implemented, including tracking contractual requirements and ensuring Santee Cooper and developers are in compliance with all contractual terms. Monitors contractor schedules and contract interpretations for compliance with contractual terms and conditions. This position will interface with several other departments, including accounting and legal functions, as well as external consultants and counter-parties.

- Work with counter parties to manage the development and construction of new resources. Administers existing contracts, including assuring accurate payments, maintaining documentation in an orderly manner, and ensuring Santee Cooper and developers are in compliance with contract terms. Lead efforts to resolve any issues that arise.

- Provide information on assigned contracts to support budget, fuel forecast, and financial forecast development as required. This includes estimating contract services necessary to support contract activities.

- Performs special projects as assigned. These projects are unplanned and arise out of requests from senior management.

- Oversee the work of junior employees, support staff, consultants and contractors, as assigned, and as appropriate to complete job responsibilities. This also includes developing and implementing a process that ensures invoices are reviewed for accuracy, and are paid as required by contractual terms.

Position Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Economics, Engineering, Finance or Math +7 years directly related experience required.

- Advanced ability to apply financial, economic, accounting mathematical and statistical principles and/or personal computer skills.

- Must be able to clearly and concisely communicate, verbally and in writing, complex concepts to multiple audiences.

Compensation Information:

$91,990 - $114,990 (min.-mid.)
