Job Summary:
The Sr. Engineering Manager - Project Technology supports the Project Development, Commercial and Project Execution teams by maintaining a Product Roadmap for both BESS & PV technologies, developing tools to enable PV & BESS project development and evaluating new BESS & PV technologies for market competitiveness and product readiness. The Technology Manager ensures development and execution projects meet Leeward’s technical and commercial requirements while maintaining its long-term ownership focus. The position requires experience with BESS & PV technology as well as the ability to manage complex and time sensitive projects in a fast-paced environment while communicating effectively.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain a BESS Product Roadmap for LRE that forecasts technical requirements, Capital Expenses, Operating Expenses and Round-Trip Energy efficiencies of BESS products to enable project development, commercial origination and project execution.
- Maintain a PV Product Roadmap for LRE that forecasts PV module power, energy characteristics, module pricing and module delivery window
- Maintain a Balance of Plant Product Roadmap for LRE that forecasts solar modules, DC and AC system components for PV plants
- PV& BESS Approved Vendor List for components such as BESS, Inverters, and BESS Integrators.
- Maintain a PV & BESS Development tool to facilitate PV & BESS Project Sizing, augmentation strategy, and technology selection for specific project development opportunities.
- Oversee BESS Capacity Testing during Project Commissioning, working with third-party consultants to establish LRE BESS Capacity Test standards, develop BESS Capacity Test plans, and validate BESS Capacity Test results
- Benchmark existing PV & BESS technology solutions for market competitiveness, collaborating with Procurement, Commercial, Estimating and Performance teams
- Evaluate new emerging PV&BESS technologies for market competitiveness and product readiness
- Provide technical guidance and specifications for the Procurement team for PV module & BESS Request for Proposals.
- 4-years Bachelor of Engineering, Masters Preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, including ability to clearly communicate ideas succinctly to a non-technical audience.
- Ability to remain focused and reliable in completing tasks and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated and manage technical projects, including interaction with outside vendors.
- Understanding of BESS plant design and typical losses associated with equipment and system design.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Significant expertise with PV& BESS system design and utility-scale project development
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain complex Excel models
- Demonstrated ability to conduct market research and synthesize findings into actionable guidance
- Ability to implement and manage technical specifications for formal Request for Proposals.
- Minimum 10 years of technical work experience in engineering
- Minimum 5 years of relevant technical experience in BESS & PV technology.
