Sr Designer Piping

About This Job

Zachry Engineering is looking to hire a Senior Designer for Piping in Corpus Christi, Texas. The ideal candidate will have a background in leading a team of engineering employees for various projects and have advanced proficiency using Laser Scans, CAD Worx, E3D, and Navisworks, 3D modeling software.

•

High school diploma or associate’s degree with drafting coursework; bachelor’s degree preferred with relevant design experience.

•

Minimum 12 years of in-depth design experience within petrochemical, refining, pharmaceutical, or power plant construction projects.

•

Advance proficiency working with Cad Worx, Navisworks, E3D, Bluebeam, Laser Scans (Aveva Point Cloud Manager and Recap).

•

Understanding of advanced thermal expansion and basic dynamic Stress analysis principles.

•

Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Front-End Loading (FEL) / Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) project execution, including stage-gate processes and the evolving deliverables and milestones from early FEL/FEED through detailed design.

•

Advanced knowledge of expansion joint design and the characteristics of different types.

•

Familiarity with common non-standard and specialty piping components.

•

Proficient in developing cost estimates (e.g., using Icarus) within the FEL/FEED framework.

•

Advanced understanding of project planning and forecasting, with some exposure to earned value management.

•

Proven expertise in advanced equipment layout, including the ability to mentor junior designers and drafters on equipment placement, elevations, and access considerations.

•

Advanced proficiency in identifying project changes and a foundational understanding of change management processes, with the ability to communicate these to Project Leads.

•

Comprehensive knowledge of schedule development, including predecessor/successor relationships and supporting resource loading.

Strong understanding of spring supports, their functionality, and the distinctions between various engineered support types.

Preferred Qualifications:

•

Experience in Construction Support, Mechanical Completion, and Plant Startup and Commissioning.

•

Significant experience providing on-site project support.

•

Proven track record of supporting large greenfield and brownfield project execution.
