Job Description
The Piping Designer is responsible for the design, understanding and application of piping systems, the generation of Process & Instrument Diagram (P&ID’s) drawings, piping plans, isometric drawings, and miscellaneous structural drawings. Emphasis is placed on quality of the work product and the efficiency of work execution.
The Piping Designer will report to a Project Lead who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development.
To fulfill this role, the Piping Designer will:
•Interpret and analyze general design provided by engineers
•Prepare detailed design for engineer’s approval
•Produce construction drawing packages by providing detailed designs using client standards and drafting techniques with minimal supervision
•Coordinate analysis with engineers using principles of pipe stress
•Be responsible for technical accuracy and constructability of finished designs
•Develop layouts from job scope and vendor information
•Conduct drawing and document research for project-related issues
•Quality check and provide course correction
•Oversee and provide final deliverables to the Project Lead
•Provide guidance to AutoCAD Technicians as well as effective communication to engineering personnel
•Comply with all Provenance and client safety procedures that govern the work being performed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
•Technology training in Drafting and design from an accredited college or university preferred
•Minimum of 5 years’ Refinery/ Petrochemical design experience required
•Minimum of 5 years’ experience utilizing AutoCAD
•Ability to utilize AutoCAD Plant 3D Software or CADWorx equivalent
•The ability to climb ladders and platforms up to 250 feet with a harness and lanyard
•The ability to work outdoors in warm, hot, and cold conditions
•Strong communication, interpersonal, leadership, and presentation skills
•Capability and willingness to learn, understand, and apply new technologies
•Proficient in use of MS Windows, MS Outlook, MS Excel, and MS Word
•The unrestricted right to work in the United States
