The Solar Site Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day field operations of commercial and industrial solar installation projects. This role ensures that all construction activities are executed efficiently, safely, and according to plans, schedules, and specifications. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with a deep understanding of solar construction and a proven track record of managing subcontractors and field crews.
· Serve as the primary point of contact on-site for project managers and stakeholders.
· Coordinate with Project coordinator to ensure arrangements have been made for site services (ie. Dumpster, Connex, Portable Toilets).
· Resolve field issues, delays, or changes efficiently and communicate effectively with office staff.
· Report Project status regularly to the necessary Chroma employees on personnel issues, project schedule, cost, customer concerns, safety violations, issues onsite, labor status etc…
· Notify the Owner and Finance department of any significant cost impacts to the project (greater than $3,000).
· Manage on-site construction activities for solar PV projects from mobilization through commissioning.
· Ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, safety standards, and local codes.
· Review and familiarize yourself with all drawings, proposals, estimations and communications with the customer.
· Coordinate work among field crews, subcontractors, and vendors to maintain schedule and quality.
· Utilize customer input, Company availability and equipment lead times to generate a project schedule.
· Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, photos, schedules, and material tracking.
· Conduct a site visit to get familiar with the project site and surrounding area.
· Coordinate with the Project Coordinator to generate a manning plan for the project and update accordingly
· Review Company commitments to determine personnel availability for the project.
· Evaluate the Project for any additional or third party services that may be required.
· If civil scope is part of the project, determine SWPP inspection responsibilities. Ensure EOR inspections are completed IAW specified requirements.
· If additional third party inspections are required (ex. MV Testing), establish communications with the appropriate organization and coordinate throughout the project to schedule required services.
· Monitor and report project progress, schedule, and budget to management.
· Conduct daily site inspections and safety meetings; enforce safety protocols.
· Support commissioning and final inspections with AHJs, utility companies, and third-party inspectors.
· 3+ years of experience supervising solar construction projects (commercial/industrial preferred).
· Strong knowledge of solar PV systems, electrical systems, and construction best practices.
· Proficiency with digital tools such as Procore, Microsoft Office, or equivalent project management software.
· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
· Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
