Role Description
The Solar Construction Manager is responsible for leading the permitting, construction, and commissioning of the commercial solar projects we develop. You'll manage complex, multi-million dollar project portfolios while coordinating with internal design teams, third-party structural engineers, and various stakeholders to transform interconnection plan-sets into fully commissioned solar installations.
You're good at serving as the primary liaison for critical subcontractor relationships and overseeing all aspects of solar system construction, including staging, site access planning, quality assurance, and safety protocols. You'll drive process improvement initiatives by researching and implementing new technologies, identifying trends that cause project delays, and developing solutions to complex construction challenges. You're skilled at tracking project timelines and their financial implications while maintaining accurate records in shared company projections.
Job Responsibilities
Construction Management (80%)
•Individually manage multiple solar PV and/or battery energy storage projects from final design through construction to commissioning.
•Work closely with internal design team and third-party structural engineers to develop interconnection plan-sets into stamped construction plan-sets.
•Oversee building and electrical permit application process with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs); use CSL to pull permits.
•Serve as the primary point of contact for key subcontractor relationships, including structural engineers, construction subcontractors, and equipment vendors, and develop new relationships as needed.
•Oversee solar system construction, including staging, hosting, and site access plans as needed, regular QA/QC checks, and construction site safety.
•Identify and respond to construction management problems; support coordinated solutions for problems that do not fall clearly within any single team’s scope.
•Track the timelines financial implication for the company’s cash flow related to the projects being managed by supervisees.
•Enter and maintain accurate records of financial impacts on cash flow in shared company projections.
Project Development Process Improvement (20%)
•Work across teams to explore the feasibility of implementing new technologies as part of our projects (e.g., post and rail racking, parking canopy racking, battery storage)
•Take lead on research, design, and implementation of new technologies and programs
•Identify and address trends that lead to project delays or common mistakes

Education, Experience & Credentials
•Master’s degree or equivalent years of academic or additional comparable professional experience
•5+ years of solar project management and/or construction management, including 3+ years in solar construction management
•Brings existing strong relationships with installation subcontractors and equipment suppliers
•Unrestricted Massachusetts CSL
Preferred:*
Direct solar installation experience as a crew member and/or crew lead*
NABCEP PV Installation Professional (PVIP) certification or equivalent*
OSHA 30 certificate*
Regular access to or ownership of a car*

•Proven ability to manage multi-project portfolios (30+ projects, $10MM+ development costs)
•Knowledge of solar construction processes from staging through commissioning
•Knowledge of building codes, electrical codes (NEC), and permitting processes with AHJs
•Knowledge of QA/QC implementation and construction site safety protocols
•Ability to read and interpret electrical and structural construction drawings
•Ability to manage budgets and analyze cash flow implications
•Proven ability to negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance
•Proven ability to develop and manage vendor and subcontractor relationships

•Ability to work independently and take the lead on new lines of business

•Proven ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and manage crisis situations
Technical Skills
•Ability to use Google Workspace products
•Proficiency in either Google Sheets or Microsoft Excel
•Proficiency in Salesforce or other comparable project management softwares
•Ability to use a Macbook/Apple OS
•Native or fluent English language skills
Preferred:*
•Proficiency in Spanish, Portuguese, and/or Cape Verdean Creole
•Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Illustrator
Compensation & Benefits Package
Compensation
•Total Compensation: $95,000 - $130,000
$95,000 - $120,000
On target bonus of $10,000/yr based on achievement of KPIs
