The SMR Plant Operator I is responsible for monitoring daily production processes to ensure reliability, efficiency and productivity goals are met. The operator will also cross train at the Javelina Processing Plant in Process Area 2 to become familiar with associated assets and allow broader coverage for the facility. Process Area 2 includes onsite/off-site metering, amine treating, sulfur recovery/incineration, storage tanks, plant utility systems, wastewater, stabilizer area, and rotating equipment.
Duties/Responsibilities:
•Works a rotating schedule which includes nights, weekends, holidays and is available for callouts.
•Monitors operating variables and keeps within normal parameters to ensure a safe and efficient operation.
•Performs inventories of chemicals used in area.
•Collects samples for gas chromatograph and water analysis.
•Inspects all equipment in assigned area.
•Completes unit rounds by taking readings, notes, and communicates all equipment problems to lead operator.
•Performs minor mechanical and/or maintenance activities.
•De-pressures, drains, flushes, steams and purges equipment.
•Performs lockout tagout (LOTO) on equipment.
•Issues work permits in assigned units.
•Oversees the preparation of process equipment for maintenance and keeps up with job tasks in your area.
•Performs the required activities to control the unit during normal and abnormal operation.
•Assists in prevention and correction of all operational issues.
•Inspects and lubricates mechanical equipment.
•Reads and executes the daily guidelines and provides feedback on progress or results to the lead operator.
•Troubleshoots process equipment and issues.
•Provides detailed relief information to other shifts.
•Reviews and signs off on operator relief logs.
•Follows all safe work practices, and procedures required by PSM regulations.
•Participates and promotes good housekeeping.
•Communicates with outside vendors and customers.
•Must maintain his/her performance per training and job knowledge requirements through periodic review.
•Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
•High school diploma or equivalent
•Associate of Applied Science degree preferred
•1 year refinery, petrochemical, gas processing, and/or oil field experience preferred
•Experience with DCS systems a plus
Certifications:
•Certificate in process technology preferred
Physical Demands and Hazard for Field Employees:
This position may require occasional travel to remote sites, potential exposure to flammable material, adherence to safety protocols, compliance with operating regulations, and will require rigorous physical demands.
