Shredder Maintenance

We are looking for a hard-working, dependable and safety minded individual to join our team as a Shredder. As the Shredder you will be responsible for the safe, efficient operations the shredding operations, for all daily activities of the shredder to include operational efficiencies, maintenance, supervision of assigned employees, and for meeting all production goals.

This position will work inside and outside in varying weather conditions, and SA Recycling strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.

Responsibilities of the Shredder

- Operate the shredder and associated equipment to meet assigned production goals with minimal downtime.

- Direct team members in all aspects of shredder operations to include material feed rates, work stoppages, and emergency situations.

- Monitor all material being fed into the shredder to ensure unacceptable or unsafe materials, such as oversized and pressurized containers, are not passed through.

- Control and adjust conveyor feed rates to maintain adequate feed rates so as not to overload capacity.

- Perform daily shredder, conveyor, and feed systems inspections and report any concerns, defects or needed repairs to the maintenance team.

- Perform maintenance functions as necessary.

- Comply with all applicable federal, state, local, & SA Recycling safety, health, & environmental rules, regulations, policies, & procedures.

Qualifications of the Shredder Supervisor

- High School Diploma, or GED; Bachelors or Associates Degree in a related field of study preferred.

- 5 years’ experience shredder operations experience in the scrap metal or related industry.

- Ability and willingness to work in an outdoor environment and in all types of weather.

- Strong interpersonal and communications skills (written and verbal).

- A comprehensive understanding of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, PLC’s and large motor subsystems.

- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus.
