About The Role This position will work out of our Whitby Shredder facility completing various administrative tasks and projects within the Maintenance department. Join our team and immerse yourself in the dynamic environment of a recycling facility. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, learn industry best practices, and develop skills in the metals recycling industry. This position will be a full-time, 8-month long internship opportunity commencing January 2026.

- This job opportunity is a 8-month contract position commencing January 2026. Candidates MUST be able to work the full 8-months at full-time capacity.

- This job opportunity is tailored towards third year Bachelor of Engineering Students currently enrolled at recognized accredited University. Candidates MUST be returning to full-time studies following this internship.

- This job opportunity is fully onsite. There are no opportunities for remote work. Candidates MUST be in commutable distance from the facility located at 1 Gerdau Court in Whitby, ON.

Main Responsibilities

- Process flow diagram (updated site map with all conveyor and equipment in the yard)

- Maintenance procedures (iso author) and overall procedure review/running meeting

- Track maintenance delays

- Ensure up to date on FA actions

- Ensure compliance with KPI upload to Actio before monthly performance review

ABOUT G. START: GERDAU’S NEXT GENERATION Gerdau is seeking university students to participate in our G. Start program. G. Start is a paid internship program with the goal of developing students for future technical and managerial positions. G. Start internships are project-focused and mutually beneficial. G. Program Requirements An Intern with Gerdau must have an eagerness to grow personally and professionally, being a part of a global company with more than 120 years of entrepreneurship and achievements in the steel industry. This program is for individuals with high learning agility and willingness to adapt and develop continuously, who aim at consistently outperforming in a variety of settings and circumstances.

- Undergraduate entering third year.

- Pursing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or related from a recognized accredited college or university.

- Record of high academic achievement (GPA 3.0 or higher preferred).

- Well-rounded applicants with leadership roles in student organizations or extra-curricular activities.

- Must be legally authorized to work full-time in the country of hire without requiring current or future sponsorship for employment.

- Candidates much demonstrate leadership potential, strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, initiative, and problem-solving skill.
