The Shop Technician is for the Shop Tech Assistant, Shop Tech 1, Shop Tech 2, and Senior Shop Tech Positions. The Shop Technician will be responsible for operations within our local remanufacturing and service facility, navigating diverse situations to produce a wide range of products. Key duties include increasingly complex assembly of equipment including top drives, iron roughnecks, frac/mud pumps, electric/hydraulic systems, and related oilfield equipment. This position will work under the direction of the Shop Manager.
- Ability to safely navigate drilling work sites & Shops with occasional walking, climbing, standing, stepping, etc. during normal operating conditions (day/night, outdoor hot/cold weather)
- Lift and carry 50 pounds independently while walking on uneven surfaces
- Bend, stoop, kneel, twist, and crawl occasionally during visits to field and operational work areas
- Frequent use a variety of hand and power tools to perform a range of mechanically oriented functions including independent use of heavy-duty handheld and long-handled tools
- Clear vision to judge near and far distances to maintain awareness of, watch, and report ongoing work activities to coworkers and third parties
- Listen for unusual noises that signify equipment and machinery problems
- Maintain spatial orientation and awareness to safely move around work environment with many moving objects
- Stay alert and focused including during occasional extended work periods
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all designated times

- Strong organizational Skills
- Electrical, Hydraulic, Mechanical aptitude and ability to read and follow schematics & assembly drawings to build, disassemble, trouble shoot & repair equipment
Utilize a computer and software for communication, reporting and data acquisition- High School Diploma or GED or equivalent education
- High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED)
- 2 + years Shop or Industrial Equipment maintenance experience or equivalent
- Or 1 + y e ars’ r e leva n t oil and gas w o rk e x pe ri e n c e in a maintenance, manufacturing, remanufacturing, repair, or field service environment of Industrial equipment.
- 3 + years Shop or Industrial Equipment maintenance experience or equivalent
- Or 2 + y e ars’ r e leva n t oil and gas w o rk e x pe ri e n c e in a maintenance, manufacturing, remanufacturing, repair, or field service environment of Industrial equipment.
- 7 + years Shop or Industrial Equipment maintenance experience or equivalent
- Or 5 + y e ars’ r e leva n t oil and gas w o rk e x pe ri e n c e in a maintenance, manufacturing, remanufacturing, repair, or field service environment of Industrial equipment.
- State-issued driver’s license and be eligi b le t o d rive a C o m p a n y v eh i c le, i n c l ud i n g a b ili t y t o m e e t r e qu i r e m e nt s o f C o m p a n y 's V e h i c le Use A gr ee m e n t a n d D riv i n g Po li c y
- Vocational or technical training: Millwright, Journeyman Mechanic or Electrician or Hydraulics certificate or Trade School Degree
- Oil & Gas equipment assembly, teardown, installation, rig up /down experience & troubleshooting of:
- Warrior equipment, Top Drives, Mud Pumps, Iron Roughnecks, Automated Catwalks, Power End
- Working knowledge of ERP systems (purchasing/inventory/sales/work order management software)
The Shop Tech must work with an emphasis on safety for themselves and others including coworkers and third parties. The typical work environment will be in the shop or field which will require exposure to outdoor weather conditions, loud noise, working near moving mechanical parts, electrical energy, construction equipment, vibration, fumes, chemicals and airborne particles.
