Role Summary/Purpose
The Shipping and Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of outgoing shipments in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role involves preparing shipping documents, managing inventory, coordinating with carriers, and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will be meticulous, proactive, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously. In the role the incumbent will have a direct impact on shipment financials, on time delivery, and ensuring the shipment of quality products.
Essential Responsibilities:
•Prepare Shipments: Accurately prepare products for shipment, ensuring proper labeling and documentation.
•Scheduling:Determining shipping priorities and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules
•Documentation: Create and verify shipping documents such as bills of lading, packing lists, and invoices.
•Inventory Management: Maintain accurate records of inventory levels, conduct regular cycle counts, and report discrepancies.
•Carrier Coordination: Schedule and coordinate shipments with carriers, ensuring timely pick-up and delivery at a reasonable cost
•Compliance: Ensure all shipments comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
•Communication: Communicate effectively with internal departments, such as production and customer service, to resolve shipping issues, expedites, and ensure smooth operations.
•Problem-Solving: Address and resolve any shipping-related problems or delays promptly.
•Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all shipments and prepare reports as needed.
•Safety: Adhere to all safety procedures and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
•Returned Material: Set up material returns per request from Sales and / or Management
•Miscellaneous Shipment Notices (MSN):Coordinate all Miscellaneous Shipment Notices.
•Export Orders: Prepares all Export Orders for shipment through coordination with both inside functions and outside services.
•Quality: Support Quality functions as it pertains to Shipping of product, i.e., material certifications, damage claims, process checks, etc.
•Cost Control/Invoicing: Responsible for monitoring and meeting goals for shipping/freight costs, utilizing the most efficient shipping method. Create and approve invoices, ensuring accuracy.
•Job Management: Cut and release new jobs for top-level assembly. Modify lower-level assembly jobs to meet customer demands and requirements. Process BOMs for the shop floor.
Qualifications/Requirements:
•Education: Associate degree or equivalent; additional coursework or certification in logistics or related field is a plus.
•Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations, preferably in a manufacturing setting.
•Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
•Technical Skills: Proficiency in shipping software, warehouse management systems (WMS), ERP systems, and Microsoft Office.
•Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling shipping documents and inventory.
•Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks.
•Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
•Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
•Physical Ability: Ability to stand for extended periods.
