YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
Reporting to the Shaft Captain, you will be part of the Mine Department. You will plan, organize, lead and control the daily Shaft activities in a safe and efficient manner on a given shift. You will also ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle’s values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
•Actively participate in company safety programs. Address safety issues in daily huddle. Conduct informal and formal inspections with coaching for improvement. Complete report on findings and promptly & appropriately follow up on safety concerns. Conduct and encourage participation in all safety meetings;
•Inform and receive information from and to crew and technical services about production and maintenance priorities; inform captain about issues as needed, including preparing required reports;
•Plan and organize all production and maintenance on the given shift in a proactive manner. Assist the crew in planning the work for the oncoming shift, following your own;
•Provide technical support and expertise to mine and project planning;
•Lead by example, provide guidance, coach and motivate crews to work safely and productively. Maintain and develop technical and management skills and knowledge. Solicit and follow up on ideas from employees;
•Evaluate and maintain work standards; explain/support company policies, procedures and standards; maintain inventory and provide on-the-job input and constructive feedback regarding team-member performance including positive reinforcement and recognition as well as correcting negative behaviour in a constructive manner;
•Ensure acceptable productivity levels in skipping, slinging, maintenance etc. in order to meet weekly mining schedules;
•Provide professional and technical support, sharing knowledge to support mine and plant projects as required. Anticipate technical problems. Stay current with and open to new technologies;
•Maintain good relations and promote positive attitude of employees;
•Process departmental documentation in a timely manner such as completing timesheets and tracking vacation. Administer policies such as absenteeism and discipline policies; initiate work orders;
•Awareness and consistency with the Agnico Eagle Mining Classification Guideline;
•Recommend input to annual budget setting and anticipate costs in accord to annual production/development on a monthly basis;
•Other duties as assigned from time to time.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
•Minimum of five years of related Shaft experience;
•Grade 12 education is required OR equivalent work experience, having the ability to fulfill the administrative duties as outlined in this job description;
•Competency with Ontario Mining Act and Regulations;
•Supervisors Common Core (within 12 months of job role);
•Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.

•Schedule: 7/7 schedule at our Macassa Mine in Kirkland Lake, ON.
