Position Summary: The Service Technician IV is a senior-level technician responsible for performing complex troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on MGB-manufactured equipment and related systems. This position serves as a technical expert within the service department, supporting less experienced technicians, providing field and in-house service support, and ensuring that all work meets MGB’s high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency.
- Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, and overhauls on mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control systems of MGB products.
- Lead complex service projects both in the field and at MGB facilities with minimal supervision.
- Troubleshoot system issues using schematics, testing tools, and diagnostic software.
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and on-the-job training to lower-level technicians.
- Accurately document service work performed, parts used, and diagnostic findings in company systems.
- Support warranty claim evaluations and assist with root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts.
- Ensure compliance with all safety protocols, procedures, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to identify and communicate recurring technical issues or design improvements.
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) and assist with equipment commissioning and customer acceptance testing.
- Serve as a customer-facing technical expert when required, ensuring professional communication and representation of MGB.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- Minimum 7+ years of relevant service or maintenance experience in heavy equipment, industrial machinery, or related manufacturing environments.- Strong mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system knowledge required.
- Experience interpreting blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills using tools, meters, and software.
- Exceptional mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
- Ability to lead by example and mentor other technicians.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficient in using diagnostic and calibration tools, hand and power tools, and relevant software.
- Commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
- Bending, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, kneeling, sitting stand, walk, kneel, stoop, squat, pull, push, climb, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, and see and standing (occasionally) for long periods of time.
- The essential duties of this position require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying.
- Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces such as trenches, pits, manholes, attics, and tunnels and demonstrate manual dexterity and be able to use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Exposure to moderate noise levels, vibrations, and bright lights; and exposure to dust, fumes, and gases; and all climate types including hot and cold temperatures, humidity, rain, snow, etc.
- Able to wear common protective or safety equipment such as safety shoes, glasses, gloves, hearing protection and hard hats when needed.
- React quickly using hands, fingers, or feet.
- Must be able to comprehend and follow written and oral instructions.
- Must be able to complete tasks even with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to use discretion and independent judgment as needed.
- Must be able to speak clearly on the phone and to fellow workers.
