Reporting to the Senior Manager, Water Resources Engineering, the Senior Water Resources Engineer is responsible and accountable for water resources engineering input and technical review of: Official Plan Reviews and Official Plan Amendments, Secondary Plans, Comprehensive Zoning By-Law Reviews and Zoning By-Law Amendments, Subwatershed Studies and other studies and technical reports, Environmental Assessments, Aggregate Resource Applications, and regulatory approvals and compliance. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will also lead or provide support for long-range initiatives both internal and external to CH. The Senior Water Resources Engineer will:
- Lead multi-person and multi-discipline teams to advance Water Resources Engineering projects and initiatives such as guidelines and manuals
- Develop work plans, tools, resources, and processes to implement and monitor initiatives
- Support other long-range initiatives including the development of policies, protocols and procedures
- Participate in the preparation of expert planning and technical teams’ advice and opinions on behalf of CH at the Local Planning Appeals Tribunal, Mining and Lands Tribunal, or other tribunals
- Engage in a collaborative solutions-oriented approach to provide comprehensive expert advice for proponents, municipality, and other agencies
- Ensure services are effectively and efficiently delivered in accordance with CH’s policies and procedures and
- Assist in the mediation and/or facilitation with proponent and technical experts to resolve complex issues/concerns
- University degree or College diploma in Water Resources Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience with a minimum of 6 years experience
- Designated as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), licensed in the Province of Ontario
- Project management and implementation experience
- Experience in guideline writing, procedure development, research, and analysis
- Experience in hydrology, hydraulics, geomorphology, geotechnical engineering, and coastal engineering
- Working knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Knowledge of principles, design, policies, and procedures related to stormwater and watershed management
- Working knowledge of the Conservation Authorities Act, the Planning Act, Environmental Assessment Act, Niagara Escarpment Planning and Development Act, Provincial Policy Statement and Provincial Plans, and other related legislation
- Experience developing, fostering, and sustaining effective and positive relationships, both internal and external to the organization
- Starting salary is $110,798 annually based on a 35-hour work week
