As the Senior Training Specialist, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical curriculum for the System Operating Orders Manual and delivering the related training. You will serve as the technical specialist and use initiative and resourcefulness to deviate from traditional methods and research trends and patterns to develop new methods, criteria, and/or propose new policies. Other responsibilities include interpreting data, planning work, and refining the methods and techniques to be used. Your work will use established criteria to formulate projects; assess program effectiveness; and analyze a variety of unusual conditions, problems, or questions. Your work product or service may affect the activities and/or operation of other organizations. You may instruct curriculum for the Desert Electrical Cross Training Program and serve as the alternate Apprenticeship Trainer.
This location may be located either at Diamond Valley Lake (Winchester, CA) or Gene Camp (Parker Dam, CA).
As a regular full-time employee at a remote Desert location, you would be eligible for Desert Branch Assignment Premium:
- 5% for all employees assigned to Gene Camp or Intake.
Schedule:
4/10, Monday through Thursday
Hybrid:
Metropolitan’s current practice in this position is a hybrid work schedule. This typically includes two days a week in person and the other days remote. This is subject to change dependent on organizational needs. In addition, a telework policy is scheduled for negotiations and once completed and implemented, will provide final direction on the hybrid schedule.

Senior Training Specialist (C) Employment Standards Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:Associate’s degree and four years of occupational experience in the subject matter area to be taught; or six years of occupational experience, journeyman’s certificate in the subject matter area to be taught, and completion of at least eighteen semester units of degree applicable college level course work, in addition to apprenticeship credits; or two years as a Training Specialist.
Subject matter area is defined as:
Experience developing curriculum and presenting training within the electrical safety field or experience as a journey level employee trained in the control of hazardous electrical energy and providing on-the-job-training to apprentices.
Certifications, Licenses, And Registration Requirements License(s):
- Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
