We are seeking a full-time, permanent Senior Electrical Technologist with 10+ years of experience in E&I design for industrial facilities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can produce construction-ready drawing packages, integrate multi-discipline inputs, and mentor junior team members. Depending on the project, you may serve as the E&I design lead coordinating deliverables and client interface, or as a senior contributor supporting a larger team.
- Develop and check electrical and instrumentation drawing packages, including single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, and interconnection drawings.
- Prepare layouts for cable and tray routing, grounding, lighting, and heat-trace systems.
- Design control panels (MCCs, VFDs, PLC/DCS panels, marshalling cabinets) and instrumentation details (loop diagrams, hookup sheets, junction-box schedules, termination drawings).
- Maintain drawing indices, title blocks, and revision control in alignment with project standards.
- Act as the E&I design lead on assigned projects, coordinating across disciplines and serving as the primary client contact for design issues.
- Participate in design reviews, client meetings, and technical discussions.
- Track deliverables, priorities, and escalate risks or schedule concerns to project leadership.
- Apply and interpret industry codes and standards (CEC, CSA, ISA, IEC/IEEE).
- Review design packages for accuracy, constructability, and compliance.
- Support continuous improvement of drafting libraries, templates, and workflows
- Provide guidance and technical support to junior technologists, designers, and drafters.
- Check and review team deliverables for compliance with standards.
- Share knowledge of codes, standards, and best practices.
- Issue field sketches, respond to RFIs, and incorporate redline markups.
- Participate in site walkdowns and tie-in surveys to verify conditions.
- Support construction and commissioning teams with design clarifications.

- Diploma in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- Registration as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T. – ASET) or equivalent.- 10+ years of E&I design experience for industrial facilities.
- Proven ability to prepare construction-ready drawing packages and integrate multi-discipline design inputs.
- Strong knowledge of low-voltage distribution, motor control, grounding, lighting, and cable sizing.
- Experience in medium voltage systems design.
- Expertise in control panel design, instrumentation loops, I/O lists, and communications/network wiring.
- Ability to interpret P&IDs, vendor data sheets, and mark-up engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with hazardous-area design practices.
- Based in Calgary, Alberta (5 days per week in office).
- Occasional field trips (up to 10 %) to active industrial sites.
