The Opportunity:
Working with the Principal, the Senior Tax Analyst will use their tax knowledge and analytical skills to ensure the timely and accurate filing of US and International tax returns, support the preparation of quarterly tax provisions, coordinate US tax audits, and support US and domestic growth initiatives. They will also provide tax assistance to other business functions and assist with international tax planning and tax research.
Responsibilities:
•Assist with all domestic and international planning and growth initiatives (mainly US growth).
•Coordinate the US income tax return filings and maintain state income tax compliance tracking and instalment payments
•Prepare Global Minimum Tax calculations and associated information returns
•Prepare assigned tax returns and foreign reporting forms (Domestic and International)
•Coordinate tax audits and provide responses to international auditor requests
•Monitor and maintain the international financing structure
•Assist with international tax planning and tax research, including implementation of tax optimization and transfer pricing initiatives
•Support the preparation of the quarterly tax provision
•Develop a good understanding of Company tax accounting processes
•Analyze and reconcile tax returns to the general ledger, identify risks, investigate and resolve discrepancies.
•Prepare journal entries for tax accounts and consultant invoice payments
•Prepare Canadian foreign affiliate surplus computations
•Respond to requests from other functional teams
•Special projects and Ad Hoc queries as assigned
Requirements:
•Completion of a Business degree with an Accounting/Finance concentration.
•CPA, CGA, CMA or CA designation
•Minimum 10 years of experience, preferably in the oil and gas industry
•Knowledge of US tax, Canadian foreign affiliate tax rules, and Global Minimum Tax rules an asset
•Completion of relevant tax course (CICA in-depth / US Master of Taxation or similar)
•Good understanding of tax reporting requirements and accounting principles
•Experienced with JDE or similar integrated accounting system
•Experienced and proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, with strong computer skills overall
•Excellent analytical and organizational skills
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Excellent relationship and people skills
•Strong work ethic and ability to work within tight deadlines in a constantly changing environment
•Ability to work both independently and within an International team environment
•Enthusiastic with a desire to learn and creates processes to achieve best practices
