Overview:
We are seeking a highly technical and detail-oriented Manager/Director of Tax to join our dynamic team. This role is ideal for a CPA with deep technical expertise in accounting standards, financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory matters. Unlike traditional leadership positions, this role focuses purely on technical excellence — business development and client acquisition are not required.
Key Responsibilities:
•Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) on U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and evolving accounting regulations.
•Provide technical accounting guidance and support to engagement teams across a variety of industries.
•Research complex accounting issues and draft well-supported technical memos and position papers.
•Review and oversee the preparation of financial statements and disclosures to ensure full compliance with regulatory standards.
•Assist in the interpretation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements.
•Consult on accounting matters related to mergers & acquisitions, restructurings, revenue recognition, leasing, and other technical areas.
•Conduct technical training sessions and continuing education for internal staff.
•Collaborate closely with Partners and Senior Managers to uphold the firm's standards of technical quality.
•Support the firm's quality control and assurance functions, including peer reviews and technical file inspections.
•Stay updated on emerging accounting, auditing, and regulatory trends and inform leadership of potential impacts.
Qualifications:
•CPA license (active and in good standing) required.
•Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; Master’s degree preferred.
•8+ years of public accounting experience, ideally at a mid-size or large CPA firm.
•Expert-level understanding of U.S. GAAP, GAAS, and SEC regulations.
•Strong technical research, writing, and presentation skills.
•Highly detail-oriented with a passion for accuracy and compliance.
•Collaborative and consultative mindset; enjoys mentoring and supporting audit and accounting teams.
•Ability to manage multiple technical projects and meet deadlines without direct business development responsibilities.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $125,000.00 - $175,000.00 per year
