We’re are hiring a Senior Specialist, Health & Safetyto work at multiple locations within the Phoenix metro area.
This individual will oversee multiple safety management systems which support our growing Health & Safety program for EPCOR US Operations. This role is key to advancing our Health & Safety program by promoting a culture of safety awareness, responsibility, employee engagement, and proactive hazard recognition.
What you’d be responsible for:
•Champion employee engagement in safety by fostering awareness, understanding, and ownership of health and safety practices at all levels of the organization.
•Lead initiatives that enhance employee understanding of workplace hazards and safe work procedures through interactive communication, coaching, and hands-on support.
•Conduct safety audits and inspections to identify hazards and compliance gaps; collaborate with teams to implement corrective actions and preventive measures.
•Serve as a trusted advisor in accident and incident investigations, helping teams identify root causes and implement sustainable solutions to prevent recurrence.
•Manage and analyze safety performance data, including injury and incident metrics, to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
•Maintain and track safety records, compliance documentation, and key performance indicators (e.g., TRIF, LTIF).
•Stay current on OSHA, DOT, and other regulatory requirements; ensure EPCOR’s practices align with evolving standards.
•Support the development and delivery of safety communications and awareness campaigns that resonate with employees and reinforce a strong safety culture.
What’s required to be successful:
•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience.
•4+ years of full-time general industry health & safety experience.
•Proven ability to engage employees in safety practices and communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
•Experience conducting safety meetings, and experience developing PowerPoint and multi-media online programs.
•Working knowledge & experience with OSHA and DOT compliance programs and regulations.
•Strong understanding of health & safety principles, procedures, practices and techniques.
•Experience conducting safety audits, Job Hazard Assessments, injury & incident investigations.
•Recognized occupational safety certification (OHST, ASP, CUSA, etc.) certification preferred.
•Advanced level Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint skills highly desirable. SharePoint experience a plus.
•Demonstrated experience and ability to assess health & safety hazards and make sound recommendations for appropriate hazard reduction & control.
•Basic knowledge & understanding of technical health & safety programs to include industrial hygiene, fire prevention and accident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), ANSI standards and NFPA.
•Strong organizational, communication, problem & conflict resolution skills.
•Ability to present information or respond to inquiries from management and employees of all levels.
•Thorough understanding of safety technologies.
