We are seeking a highly skilled Software Project Manager with expertise in Energy sector. The ideal candidate will oversee the planning, execution, and successful completion of projects related to software management, development, automation, Power Systems, SCADA, DERMS, EMS and Smart Grids. This role requires strong technical knowledge, stakeholder management skills, and project execution experience in the energy sector.
Project Planning & Execution How you can make an impact :
- Develop project scope, schedules, budgets, and milestones.
- Define project deliverables and ensure adherence to technical specifications.
- Interface between software developers, electrical engineers, and business units
- Lead software development projects with team of SMEs
- Managed a smart grid data analytics solution
- Lead the development of a DERMS platform integrating renewables to utilities
- Collaborate with external stakeholders and internal teams to ensure seamless integration of software initiatives and products.
- Risk & Compliance Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, industry standards and cybersecurity protocols.
- Track project progress and report to senior management.
- Allocate resources effectively and monitor project costs.
- Effectively monitors and controls efficient resource utilization.
- Ensure smooth commissioning and operational readiness
- Ensure that projects are formally closed out and contractually agreed. Drives the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
- Ensures that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with EPE policies and contractual agreements.
- Acts as key contact for the customer and escalation point for project issues.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
- Ensures the project follows and complies with company health, safety, and environmental policies.
- Develops project execution staff through formal and informal mentoring and coaching.
Qualifications
Bring your passion, here's what’s needed:- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in software engineering, Power Systems, or a related field from an accredited program.
- 5-10 years of experience in project management specifically in software development within the power sector
- PMP certification is preferred
- Proven expertise in SCADA, DERMS, EMS, smart grids, communication networks, and automation.
- Ability to identify opportunities and lead proposals / pursuit efforts. Proven ability to develop business and establish relationships with clients.
- Ability to handle large volumes of work and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. This position requires an individual capable of applying intensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices to broad areas of assignments.
- Strong experience with document control, scheduling, cost control and project management tools (Jira, Trello, Monday, MS project)
- Understanding of software engineering principles, REST APIs, databases, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and energy protocols (IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3)
- Familiar with NERC, FERC, ISO standards and regional grid codes
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Previous consulting experience preferred but not required.
