Senior Process Metallurgist!

Job Summary:
The Senior Process Metallurgist is an integral part of the Plant Operations team. You will assist in coordination of department process-related activities, provide technical support for day-to-day operational activities as well as Continuous Improvement projects, and work side-by-side with Plant Operations employees, using technical expertise to identify best quality practices and process improvements.
Position specifics:•Location: Onsite role located in Cleveland OH (relocations assistance available within the US)
•Travel Requirements: Up to 10% for training, conferences, and customer visits
Key responsibilities:
•Provide technical support for Operations troubleshooting and coordinate process activities with the Quality Technical Manager.
•Develop strategies to enhance product quality and overall Plant performance. Collect and analyze product and process data; perform Root Cause Analysis, write technical reports, and communicate findings with the teams
•Promote Continuous Improvement projects with data-driven recommendations and implement process changes
•Meet customer requirements, support product development, and resolve customer complaints
•Train employees on technical processes and maintain product capability databases
•Adhere to Environmental, Quality, and Safety procedures, and substitute for the Quality/Technical Manager when needed
What you’ll need:
•Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related degree
•Five plus years’ related work experience in the metals industry, including hands-on operational experience and a working knowledge of mechanical and metallurgical principles
•Creative problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to deliver solutions
•Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with multiple levels
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work with others to accomplish goals
•Proven leadership skills in leading cross functional teams and resources without direct authority
•Demonstrated ability to develop productive working relationships with other functional areas
•Proficient in the advanced features of Microsoft Office products
•Ability to accommodate up to 10% travel
Nice to haves:
•Experience in the steel industry, specifically working with a long products rolling mill
•Experience with raw material expectations (i.e. incoming inspection, material balance, etc.) and requirements for finished products such as high carbon, weld wire, spring and/or cold heading quality
•Experience with quality standards such as ISO9001, TS 16949 and Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement techniques
•Thorough knowledge of SPC and data analysis
•Demonstrated application of Microsoft Access used in conjunction with ODBC tables
•Project management experience and/or training
•Prior supervisory or demonstrated leadership experience
