We are seeking a
Senior Process Engineer
, based out of our Phoenix office. This position is responsible for the process engineering and discipline project design activities relating to concept, pre-feasibility, feasibility studies, EPCM and EPC projects.
Main functions include (but not limited to):
•Metallurgical Evaluation
•Peer review of estimates, schedules, proposals, designs and constructability
•Site Support & commissioning
•Reporting and Documentation
Responsibilities:
•Manages internal design and drafting resources.
•Manages the Process design team to ensure that Process designs are carried out in accordance with client standards and specification documentation, industry norms and the relevant legislation
•Ensures the effective review and approval of Process design and engineering
•Develops improved work practices and ensures familiarity with new and innovative process technologies
•Undertakes techno-economic investigations
•Leads and / or assists with the process related commissioning activities of the project including legal appointments for commissioning activities.
•Ensures that the installation is in accordance with the project & vendor specifications provide for the expected process functionality.
•Displays a positive disposition towards expat commissioning requirements.
•Provides process inputs for preliminary economics assessments, pre-feasibility studies, and feasibility studies
•Participates in studies completed under the CIM’s National Instrument 43-101, understands the standard, and leads the preparation of relevant report sections.
•Understands and applies the CIM Practice Guidelines for Mineral Processing for studies completed under the NI 43-101 standard.
•Assesses processes for their relevance and the adequacy of engineering equipment.
•Designs, installs and commissions new production units, monitoring modifications and upgrades, and troubleshooting existing processing issues.
•Applies the principles of mass and heat transfer to process and equipment design, including conceptual, scheme and detail design.
•Prepares reports, process flow diagrams (PFDs) and charts, and participates in the preparation of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
•Manages the cost and time/schedule constraints within a project.
•Selects, manages and works with sub-contractors and vendors, as required.
•Supports the conversion of small-scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
•Assumes responsibility for risk assessment, including hazard and operability (HAZOP) and identification (HAZID) studies, for the health and safety of both company staff and the wider community.
•Works closely with other specialists, including scientists responsible for the quality control of raw materials, intermediates and finished products; engineers responsible for plant maintenance; commercial colleagues on product specifications and production schedules; and the operating crew.
Requirements:
•Bachelor degree in Mineral Processing, Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering
•Professional Engineer with license to operate as engineer in province or state of employment
•Minimum 10+ years of mineral processing operations / management or mineral processing design and commissioning
