SiTration is seeking a Senior Process Engineer
to join our team and help scale our groundbreaking critical minerals extraction solution. At SiTration, you will have the opportunity to develop and scale our novel technology, while helping to enable a sustainable and profitable critical materials supply chain for an electrified future.
SiTration is a rapidly-growing team of creative, passionate, and deeply-technical scientists, engineers, and entrepreneurs working to develop a low-cost, sustainable approach for harvesting critical minerals. At the core of SiTration’s approach is a patented silicon filtration and extraction technology developed at MIT. This novel solution aims to transition resource-intensive chemical and thermal separations to an ultra-efficient electrified approach.
Founded out of MIT in 2020, SiTration’s operations are located in Watertown, MA. This position requires a full-time in-person commitment.

- Work closely with R&D and engineering teams to develop system requirements
- Design and implement process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
- Develop and execute on pilot plant designs for process scale up
- Develop and manage project timelines and budgets
- Develop process flows and optimize process performance through quantitative mass and energy balances
- Assist in developing process control strategies
- Lead Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOPs) and safety reviews of all critical systems
- Manage and mentor junior engineers- B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Materials and/or Metallurgical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Operations, Petroleum Engineering, or similar with 5+ total years of experience
- Strong understanding of process engineering principles (e.g., fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, heat and mass transfer)
- Demonstrated ability to design and build laboratory and pilot-scale fluid systems
- Experience with electrochemical systems is a plus
- Experience with process modeling software (e.g., Aspen, SysCAD, CHEMCAD)
- Ability to clearly identify and manage risk to meet project timelines and requirements
- Experience with safety and hazard analysis (e.g., HAZOP, SWIFT) methodology
- Experience with CAD software (e.g., solidworks, fusion360) is a plus
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Some travel (up to 10%) may be required for system deployments and commissioning
