Located approximately 25 miles from Knoxville, the East Tennessee complex consists of a mill and three underground zinc mines; Young, Coy and Immel. The mines are located in and around Knox and, Jefferson counties within 20 miles of each other.
Sr. Mine Engineer – ETM:

Overview of the role::
Responsible for generation of long range mine plans/schedules (>3 months) accounting for development, production, ventilation, ground control, and mine services that over time maximizes the total value able to be created from the resource located at multiple mine sites. The purpose of this role is to support East Tennessee Mines operations and technical group by managing all aspects of assigned mining projects.

•Develops plans and schedules in consideration of Statutory requirements
•Prepare project status reports by collecting, analysing and summarizing information and trends; recommending and taking corrective actions as needed
•Ensuring costs are controlled to meet budget and where possible reduced to achieve savings
•Ensure that all non-conformance work is properly reported, tracked and documented

Mine Planning and Scheduling:
•Plan the work required and deliver reserve calculations in an accurate and timely manner
•Work with the geological department to increase the mine reserves via the resource/reserve process
•Developing and updating design parameters that include but is not limited to; primary ventilation; mine support services systems and ground control as it relates to long term development/stope stability
•Reviewing and updating mine cut-off grades in order to maximize total reserve value.
•Develop a high level life of mine plan and mine schedules that provide a detailed three year perspective to the business needs
•Provide guidance to short term planning/scheduling to ensure alignment to longer term goals
•Establishing and maintaining appropriate communications and relationships within the MTS department to understand their needs and provide advice for Geology and Survey as required
•Establishing and maintaining appropriate communications between the MTS department and other departments by maintaining appropriate relationships and a be-of-service approach
People and Organization:
•Support the team to build requisite structures
•Work with the team to ensure the long term viability of the team

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE::
•Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering (Having passed the FE or possessing a PE beneficial)
•Minimum 8 years in the mining industry and a minimum of 3 years in long term mine planning (U/G experience a plus)
•Experience in mechanized, high volume, low margin mining operations preferably including shallow dipping ore bodies. Experience in shallow dipping ore bodies utilizing cut & fill, room and pillar, and long hole mining methods
•Experience in reserve estimation
•Experience in annual budgeting processes
•Experience as a mine production engineer or short range planner beneficial
•Sound understanding of the functions carried out by the geological and mine engineering departments
•Understanding of technical and operating processes relevant to mine planning and scheduling
•Experience in contract management desirable and demonstrate project management experience
•Understanding of technical and operating processes relevant to project planning and scheduling
•Understanding of mining regulation and statutory responsibilities
