We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer (P.Eng.) who is ready to step into a leadership role while staying deeply engaged in hands-on engineering. This individual will oversee the mechanical design function while contributing directly to project execution through design, analysis, and validation.
You will play a key role in leading engineering initiatives, mentoring junior staff, and ensuring that every project is backed by the necessary calculations, analysis, and innovation to succeed.
- Leadership & Project Oversight
- Provide technical leadership across all engineering projects.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers/designers, fostering a collaborative learning culture.
- Ensure compliance with engineering standards, codes, and regulations (CSA, ASME, etc.).
- Design & Engineering
- Create detailed designs using SolidWorks for custom steel fabrication projects.
- Perform engineering calculations and finite element analysis (FEA) to validate designs.
- Prepare technical reports, design packages, and calculations for customer approval.
- Innovate and problem-solve to support entrepreneurs in bringing new products to market.
- Collaboration
- Work closely with shop staff, project managers, and clients to deliver high-quality solutions.
- Translate client ideas into manufacturable, cost-effective designs.
- Support proposals, cost estimates, and client presentations with engineering expertise.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta (eligible for registration with APEGA).
- Minimum 7+ years of mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or senior role.- Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (design, modeling, drafting, simulation).
- Demonstrated experience in steel fabrication, custom equipment, and/or trailer-mounted systems.
- Proven ability to conduct engineering calculations, FEA, and prepare sealed engineering documents.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for green development, innovation, and supporting clients through the design-to-build process.
- Experience in water treatment systems, renewable/green technologies, or heavy equipment design.
- Background working in a job-shop or custom fabrication environment.
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. fabrication and safety standards.
