Summary

Oversee development of SRP-owned resources valued at hundreds of millions to billions of dollars to ensure that SRP meets reliability, sustainability, and affordability goals. Lead siting, permitting, and early procurement and design activities necessary to develop resources within needed timeframes. Coordinate development of implementation actions to ensure the successful execution of SRP s long-term power generation Resource Plan.

What You'll Do

- Oversee resource development activities for SRP-owned resources, including siting studies, land acquisition, conceptual design, schedule, interconnection requests, and collaborating on transmission development.

- Represent SRP in outreach and engagement activities in communities where new SRP resources will be developed.

- Testify in support of resource projects in regulatory approval processes.

- Develop and oversee implementation actions to ensure the successful execution of SRP’s long-term power generation Resource Plan.

- Develop strategies to mitigate the risk of project delays.

- Develop plans for repurposing or leveraging existing SRP generating facilities.

- Develop capital plan associated with SRP’s annual Resource Plan.

- Develop long term renewable acquisition/ownership plan that considers financial and operational tradeoffs, as well as opportunities for Federal direct pay benefits.

- Develop and deliver presentations to executive management, the SRP Board, and other external stakeholders.

- Interface with media, elected officials, and other external stakeholders on questions about SRP-owned resources.

- Represent SRP’s interests while developing and advancing SRP’s relationships with other public power entities, peer utilities, industry organizations, federal agencies, state agencies and regulatory bodies.

- Develop strategic alliances with developers, engineering and construction firms, and industry consultants.

- Hire, develop, and train new employees. Provide direction to analysts with varying experience from in-training to Senior Principal level.

- Develop long/short range plans, capital and O&M budgets.

- Manage the selection/coordination and administration of outside consulting engineers contracted for work in support of projects.

What It Takes To Succeed

This is a high visibility position that requires a leader who is able to manage multiple priorities and interface effectively with executive leadership, the SRP Board, members of the community, and other external stakeholders. The successful implementation of SRP-owned resource projects is critical to ensuring that SRP is well positioned to meet future reliability needs and transition to a lower carbon future. Resource acquisition and development has significant reputational, political, and financial implications to SRP, and is the subject of significant attention from the SRP Board, external stakeholders, customers, and other members of the communities SRP serves.

The ideal candidate for this position would also have the following skills and capabilities:

- Demonstrated track record of collaboration with other organizations to accomplish objectives.

- Ability to lead multiple assignments concurrently under pressure.

- Demonstrated agility and leadership with optimism when responding to changing industry dynamics and leadership guidance.

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to build rapport with all levels of employees within SRP.

- Knowledge of electric utility economics, operation, design and construction.

- Excellent organizational and project management skills.

- Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Experience

A minimum of eight years of related experience is required (if no degree, 12 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling 12 years).

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
