We’re currently seeking a Senior Lead, ETRM Solutions to play a key role in supporting and enhancing the systems that drive our Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) processes. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the technical and functional performance, maintenance, and evolution of ETRM systems.
This role supports a range of key business functions, including Commodity Portfolio Management, Commodity Risk and Credit, Finance (Settlements and Complex Accounting), as well as Compliance and Legal.
Y ou will contribute to our team by :
- Leading the ETRM Solutions Support Team in setting business priorities, managing demand, and delivering high-quality support services.
- Overseeing the end-to-end support of specialized commodity management processes—from transaction origination through to settlement.
- Driving the enhancement, maintenance, and support of systems supporting Commodity Portfolio Management, Commercial Reporting, Credit and Commodity Risk, Legal, and Compliance functions.
- Leading initiatives supporting the ”Trade to Cash” business processes, ensuring systems are aligned with evolving business needs.
- Guiding a cross-functional team of Business Analysts and IT Systems Professionals, maximizing the capabilities of the information systems that underpin “Trade to Cash” operations.
- Providing strategic leadership within the IT organization, reporting directly to the CIO, and managing both business-savvy and technically focused managers .
- Ensuring responsive, customer-focused application support, monitoring system performance to maintain high availability and operational excellence across all supported business areas.
- Overseeing application maintenance activities, including security patching, version upgrades, code enhancements, and ongoing data management to ensure secure and reliable system performance.
- Ensur ing the delivery of optimal results against appropriate performance metrics. Establish, monitor, measure and report performance metrics. Analyze and identify issues impacting operational performance and establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure:
- Establishing and upholding application service delivery standards for system enhancements, maintenance, and emergency repairs—ensuring adherence to development guidelines, architectural standards, and preventative maintenance protocols.
- Providing expert guidance and recommendations on system solutions to support ETRM business processes.
- Designing and maintaining an effective organizational structure that aligns roles and responsibilities, clarifies accountabilities, and fosters strong cross-functional collaboration.
- Building and leading a high-performing team of IT and Business Analyst professionals dedicated to delivering exceptional support for ETRM business areas.
- Cultivating a culture of excellence—driving performance, accountability, innovation, and a customer-centric mindset within a safe and disciplined work environment.
What you will bring to the role :
- University degree in Computing Sciences ( Computer Systems Technology diploma from a recognized technical institute) or University degree in Business Administration or Management Information Systems
- 10+ years of experience in ETRM systems or commodity trading space
- 7+ years’ experience managing application services and processes
- 7+ years’ experience with developing, managing and maintaining enterprise level applications
- 5+ years’ experience progressively responsible leadership roles
- 5+ years' experience working with Commodity trading support organization
- In-depth understanding of an ETRM business processes (preferably focused on Allegro)
- Experience supporting an integrated energy trading and risk management (ETRM) system with multiple business stakeholders
- Understanding of Power, Natural Gas and Emissions commodity markets throughout North America .
- Deep understanding of application enhancement, maintenance and support functions relative to energy trading.
- Strong management and coordination of day-to-day production support operations and ability to work closely with systems professionals in addressing application issues or bugs in a timely fashion and in accordance with customer expectations. Able to successfully deliver related ongoing application stability and performance.
- Ability to provide knowledge and thought leadership within Commodity Management Applications and the core business. Understanding of energy trading (power and gas), portfolio analytics and credit and risk management.
- Proven ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and prepare appropriate reports .
- The ability to lead a team through crisis situations (i.e.: when a key business function in the corporate application suite is failing causing a disruption to normal operations).
- Deep understanding of release management and related change management functions
- Hybrid Office/Work from home position, with possible minimal travel to meet business users at Capital Power facilities or other offices.
- Required to part of an o n-call ro tation few weeks a quarter
