Headquartered in Downtown Houston, the Golden Pass LNG organization expects to double in size over the next several years as we complete the project, commence natural gas trading activities, and ramp up towards full LNG production. Once full operations commence, Golden Pass LNG will become the second largest consumer of natural gas in the US and produce more than 200 cargos of LNG per annum.
Job Summary / Purpose
The primary responsibility of the Senior IFRS Financial Accountant is to partner with the Accounting Manager and Technical Accounting Manager in leading the company’s financial accounting and reporting responsibilities including IFRS compliant financial statements, financial close, and other accounting activities. The Senior IFRS Financial Accountant will be responsible for a variety of aspects of the financial accounting and reporting process. The Senior Financial Accountant will collaborate with various stakeholders across various departments.
Essential Duties / Functions•Actively engages in month end and year end close activities including reviewing and analyzing financial data, statements, and reports to ensure compliance with IFRS accounting standards.
•Supports the interim and year end audit processes with the external audit firm. Assists in coordinating PBC and other audit requests. Works closely with external auditors on controls questions, issues, and deficiencies.
•Demonstrate a strong technical knowledge of IFRS versus US GAAP accounting differences, including but not limited to commodity related activities, leases, and fixed assets. Prepare and maintain reconciliations/bridge schedules between US GAAP and IFRS financial statements, including supporting documentation for audit and JV reporting.
•Monitor changes in IFRS standards and assess their impact on company financials. Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures in line with IFRS requirements.
•Work closely with the various teams to provide financial insights and support decision-making. Participate in the analysis of operational expenses, accruals, and stewardship reports from a financial perspective.
•Prepares monthly close tasks, reviews and approves journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Prepare accounting for expense allocations, travel expenses, payroll expenses, etc.
•Fully supports the company’s goals of continuous improvement and operational excellence including reviewing areas of responsibility for improvement opportunities.
•Special projects as needed.
Minimum Requirements
Minimum
education
required of the position.
•Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
Minimum Experience Required Of The Position.
•7+ years of financial accounting and reporting within the O&G market in compliance with IFRS standards, with 3+ years of preparing full-blown public/private IFRS financials preferred.
•Experience supporting dual GAAP audits or reporting in a joint venture or multinational environment preferred.
•Experience in top ERP systems, preferably SAP S/4 HANA
Minimum Knowledge, Skills And Abilities Required Of The Position.
•Technical Competency - Ability to understand and dissect complex agreements and ensure their proper reflection in Golden Pass’ accounts and financial statements including footnote disclosure in accordance with IFRS. Familiarity with IFRS 1 and first-time adoption processes is a plus. Hands-on experience performing research and drafting accounting memos.
•Leadership - Experience leading projects, ability to drive and influence the accounting & finance functional strategies by taking initiative, engaging others, expressing ideas, and challenging the status quo across businesses and functions.
•Communication – Able to take complex accounting requirements and results and communicate these in a clear and concise manner to all levels of the organization, including non-financial team members, building understanding and knowledge.
•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong relationships and seamless interfaces across the business, including front, middle and back-office teams as well as with senior management.
•Strong skills with Microsoft Office tools.
