POSITION OVERVIEW – Senior Gas Plant OperatorThe position involves monitoring, operating, and troubleshooting facility process equipment while completing daily production reports. The operator is responsible for identifying maintenance work, documenting it in the maintenance program, and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. The role requires effective communication with supervisors regarding operational issues and adherence to regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:Plant Operations & Monitoring* Monitor gauges, dials, and display screens to ensure optimal performance of plant equipment.
•Operate and control compressors, scrubbers, evaporators, separators, process heaters, incinerators, and refrigeration systems.
•Manage plant processes using a DCS (Distributed Control System) from the control room.
•Monitor and adjust parameters including flow, pressure, temperature, and levels within operational guidelines.
Equipment & Maintenance* Perform routine maintenance of equipment and facilities to company standards.
•Troubleshoot and perform minor repairs to pumps, compressors, tanks, and other plant equipment to minimize downtime.
•Test, calibrate, and maintain safety instrumentation and equipment.
•Assist the Lead Operator with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance programs.
Process Optimization & Safety* Optimize production operations while complying with environmental and safety regulations.
•Monitor and maintain safe pressure and flow rates to ensure proper gas delivery and storage.
•Conduct and participate in pre-job safety meetings, adhering to HSE and regulatory compliance standards.
•Documentation & Reporting
•Record operational activities, including gauge readings, test results, and maintenance actions.
•Input and manage production data using computer programs and MS Office tools.
Team Support & Supervision* Collaborate with team members and contractors on site.
•Assist in overseeing contractor activities and ensuring work is performed safely and efficiently.
•Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Operator or Supervisor.
Qualifications & Requirements:* High School Diploma or equivalent required.
•Minimum 5 years of operational experience in oil and gas production or gas plant operations.
•Knowledge of gas turbines and co-generation systems is preferred.
Technical Skills* Mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of pumps, compressors, separators, tanks, gas sweetening, and produced water treatment.
•Proficient with DCS systems and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
•Familiar with safety instrumentation and environmental monitoring systems.
Soft Skills & Work Conditions* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
•Ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
•Able to follow direction, work independently, and function effectively in a team environment.
•Must have H2S and general safety training.
•Must be flexible, adaptable to changing priorities, and able to meet deadlines .
