Department Overview
Business Development & Implementation (BD&I) within Gas Strategy Execution and System Planning (GSESP) supports PG&E’s True North Strategy with the continued investment in a safe and reliable system, greening the gas supply, and shaping the state’s policies. The team’s focus is on continuing PG&E’s progress to decarbonize the company’s gas supply with renewable gas while aggressively pursuing gas throughput increases needed by our customers that utilize our system. These goals would not be possible without the concerted activities in developing and driving implementation of strategy and regulatory policies to enhance the foundation of our projects, processes, contracts, and agreements. As with any section of our business, there is a parallel path to enhance operational efficiency, continuous improvement, analysis, and benchmarking.
Position Summary
The Gas Transmission Interconnection Manager, Senior is responsible for all aspects of large new business commercial and industrial customer load, new gas supply, and fossil and renewable receipt points for interconnection projects to the gas system. This responsibility can include proactively developing business opportunities, supporting regulatory activities, and negotiating customer contracts.
Travel is occasional (~up to 5%) to field locations, sites and/or offices.
This position is hybrid, working from your remote office and your assigned work location based on business need. The assigned work location will be within the PG&E Service Territory (San Ramon or Oakland)
Location is flexible within the PG&E Service Territory between San Ramon or Oakland, please note hiring leader will make final decision of what are appropriate headquarters for the role based on business need.
Incumbent should expect to travel through PG&E Service Territory for projects, meetings, trainings, etc.
Position Duties (may include but are not limited to): Execute on moderately complex new interconnections including managing official applications, ensuring job cost estimates are produced and communicated to customer, completing standard form contracts, track project funding to ensure financial obligations are met and negotiating special facility agreements and/or any exceptional case agreements if applicable Monitor progress in engineering, design, project management, monitoring project budget and construction to ensure facilities are completed on time Inform and influence leadership decision making Operate independently with little supervision, manage moderate to highly complex projects and initiatives, accomplish objectives and effectively work both in teams and individually Apply project/program management methods to perform work completion Identify and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders for project execution Develop and deliver multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different internal and external audiences Proactive outreach to build relations and execute on new business opportunities to increase throughput and renewables for the gas system Perform assessments, present to leadership for approval and offer negotiated rates Identify and maintain strong working relationships with all strategic programs and partners Support benchmarking with other utilities/3rd parties for process improvement, best practices and change management Support regulatory activities by writing testimony, responding to data requests, meet with regulators and other IOUs, and/or provide content for regulatory filings Utilize customer service conversation skills to ensure positive interactive relationships occur Utilize active listening skills, open to sharing ideas and develop divergent ideas to build a consensus incorporating problem solving skills to produce out-of-the box solutions
PG&E is providing the salary range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the time of the job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual salary paid to an individual will be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications, experience, market value, geographic location, and internal equity. Although we estimate the successful candidate hired into this role will be placed towards the middle or entry point of the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-case basis related to these factors.
A reasonable salary range is:
Bay Area Minimum: $114,000
Bay Area Maximum: $182,000
This job is also eligible to participate in PG&E’s discretionary incentive compensation programs.
Job Responsibilities
Qualifications-
Minimum: Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Business, Marketing or related or equivalent experience 5 years of related experience in the natural gas industry

Desired: 1 year of experience in interconnections, new business or related 2 years of customer service experience 2 years of related experience in program management, project management, and/or product management, including process improvement work Ability to work and interact with diverse groups of people including both internal and external parties Ability to devise and articulate solutions to complex problems Valid California driver’s license Field/Technical Engineer in Training (EIT) certification and/or Professional Engineering (PE) license Knowledge and understanding of gas transmission and distribution Knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, codes, and regulations that govern gas engineering and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) activities Knowledge and understanding of the principles and properties of gas impacting various internal/external environments Proficiency and skill with engineering information systems and applications Project/Program PMP-Project Management Professional certification PgMP-Program Management Professional certification CCMP- Certified Change Management Professional certification Ability to apply program management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level Ability to apply project management theories, concepts, methods, best practices, and techniques as needed to perform at the job level Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems Ability to effectively manage multiple projects and tasks with demanding time constraints Tariff/Contracts/Regulatory Ability to compose and interpret contract language terms Ability to construe tariff language terminology (a focus on Gas Rule 2,15,16, all gas rates) Knowledge of PG&E’s regulatory process and policies and those of the CPUC Ability to present moderately complex data and findings to diverse audiences Capability to analyze problems and recommend solutions despite incomplete information and limited time Customer Service/Communication Experience serving and meeting the needs of internal and/or external customers Ability to analyze, understand, and communicate information accurately Strong written and verbal communications skills with the ability to present complex information with ease and clarity to management Ability to excel independently, build consensus, and cohesively collaborate within a team environment Ability to support and develop marketing material and online presence Tools/Standard Proficiency and skill with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint, and Outlook) Creativity and innovation skills Experience with Microsoft Project Experience with SAP Utility industry or regulatory applications
