Senior Gas Controller

Primary Purpose

Monitors, regulates and controls the flow of natural gas throughout distribution system to ensure volume and pressure of gas required for consumers' and shippers' demands. Responsible to respond to any emergency, communicating with Operators, to ensure minimal disruption to business operations.

Duties and Responsibilities

Monitors gas control computer to determine gas pressure, temperature and volume to ensure safe receipt and delivery of volumes.

Adjusts controls or compression, to regulate gas flow and pressure through system; Communicates with compressor station personnel to request adjustments according to supply and demand.

Provides analytical support to the field in identifying trends and potential measurement anomalies.

Works with Business Services group to provide analysis and resolution when customer billing issues arise.Prepares and maintains various reports and assists the wholesale Scheduler during the end-of-month volume actualization process.

Reviews correlating data such as gas quality, pressure and temperature with variables affecting consumer demand such as weather conditions and time of day to forecast load adjustments.Maintains contact with large industrial customers to ensure availability and delivery of required gas.

Performs Lost and Unaccounted For Gas research, pressure studies, and other special projects to improve system operations.

Performs other duties as assigned (no more than 5% of duties).

Qualifications

Education

Associate's Degree Or equivalent from two-year college or technical school. Required Experience

4 Related experience and/or training; or a combination of education and experience providing equivalent knowledge. Required Skills and Abilities

Ability to learn the storage and pipeline system.

Ability to learn and apply knowledge of the methods, principles and practices for coordinating the flow of natural gas.

Ability to learn and apply knowledge of the SCADA system.

Ability to use general and specialized computer applications to manage information.

Ability to read, write and interpret work related documents.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and supervisors.

Ability to remain calm and react quickly and appropriately under pressure and in emergency situations.

Ability to hear and clearly convey information by radio or telephone.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed procedures.

Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Ability to work a 12hr rotating shift schedule
