Position Summary
We are seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Senior Financial Analyst to play a critical role in supporting both R&D financial operations and corporate accounting and finance functions. Reporting to the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager, this role will provide financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting support primarily for the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and the R&D group, while also collaborating with accounting and finance teams on broader financial initiatives.
The Financial Analyst will be responsible for managing R&D project costs, conducting variance analysis, and delivering financial insights that drive strategic decision-making. Additionally, this role will support corporate financial reporting and data analysis, ensuring accuracy and transparency in financial performance. With significant exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional teams, this position is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing both operational and strategic finance responsibilities.
Position Responsibilities
•Develop and manage budgets and forecasts for the R&D group, ensuring alignment with business strategy.
•Manage large Excel files tracking R&D project costs and financial performance.
•Conduct variance analysis, comparing actual costs to budget and forecast, providing key insights to the CTO and R&D team.
•Approve project and program costs for R&D initiatives, ensuring budgetary control.
•Meet weekly with the R&D team to review project updates and financial impact.
•Prepare monthly financial reporting packages specific to R&D projects.
•Support investment decisions by performing profitability and ROI analysis for R&D initiatives.
•Assist with long-term financial projections and scenario planning.
•Analyze key financial metrics, cost structures, and revenue drivers to support business decisions.
•Build and maintain financial models to aid in forecasting and cost optimization.
•Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for senior management.
•Develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations for executive meetings, investor updates, and board discussions.
•Create dashboards and visual reports using Excel, Power BI, or other financial tools.
•Work closely with Finance & Accounting teams on a range of financial analysis and reporting tasks.
•Assist the Senior Corporate Accounting Manager with weekly/monthly corporate accounting responsibilities.
•Provide budgeting and forecasting support to the FP&A Manager as needed.
•Navigate various financial systems to ensure the integrity of financial reports and provide insights to business leaders.
•Research and report on factors influencing business performance, helping drive strategic decision-making.
•Coordinate and collaborate with colleagues across operations, finance, and accounting to analyze data, generate insights, and facilitate meaningful discussions with business partners.
Required Qualifications
•Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
•5+ years of experience in cost/financial analysis, accounting, or budgeting and forecasting within a fast-paced organization.
•Demonstrated education or experience that demonstrates a thorough understanding of budgeting, forecasting, accounting, and general business principles.
•Advanced proficiency in Excel.
•Analytical, with strong orientation to detail and high degree of accuracy in task execution.
•Ability to organize and prioritize responsibilities effectively to meet strict deadlines.
